It's even snowing here in East Texas! Probably not as bad as what you guys are dealing with! Luckily, this weekend it'll be back in the 60's!

I feel ok

slightly grumpy

winter b gone.webp CMD

Ya I hear ya, I got tired of sitting inside lol. So today I went on a short hunt in the cold, just wore a few layers...bundled up my ace 150 and went out for a couple hours...wasn't too bad actually...some of the woods was frozen but you can find some patches to check. Pulled an 1882 IH and a old 1930s ant killer bottle! So can still have productive hunts in the cold! But ya, can't wait for spring to come, wanna break in the Explorer xs I just got!

Well it was 71 here today...BUT! I do not have much to hunt. Nothing historic 'round here..So at least you guys have that!! I can pan & sluice...

14 degrees here in St Louis, Mo. I'm also going mad & making notes in my head of particular future hunting sites. It's supposed to hit 52 on Sunday.... So I may get a break. We shall see.

Couldnt agree more!!! Doesnt look like our 10+ inches of snow isnt gunna melt anytime soon either...it 9 degrees! Lets just hope and pray for warmer weather

I feel for you guys I really do, with that being said come to southern California, it was a chilly 85 degrees today. This winter, we had ten days in the low 90s. Every other day has been in the mid 80s and bright sun. On new years day I was in huntington beach bodysurfing. My aunt went to Hawaii this January and it was only in the mid 70s. I laughed and said she should get her money back.

But seriously, come to California and shake that snowstorm off of your shoulders. :sunshine:

Its 17 below without the wind this sucks i got my highest heating bill ever 250 dollars

I'm a bit aggravated. Looks like there will be no hunting here for 2 more weeks. I've got out in between freezes but that's all. Spring is coming!!!!

Same here in Detroit.

It's 9 degrees out, wind chill -9, I'm headed out to the beach, low tide bottle hunt, old town on Delaware Bay. I have to wear my snow boots, we got 6 inches other day. Might break out the AT Pro if I can find a spot that is not too deep. I have a place in mind, just don't think the ground will be thawed. I have been doing allot of research, just need to get out of house and walk some areas looking for surface bottle finds.

Ouch! :BangHead: You guys are going through a really rough winter for sure! A few posting here recently mentioned that they can still detect in thick woods where the leaf cover sometimes has kept the ground from freezing solid, but sounds like most of you are in areas where even in deep woods the earth may be frozen solid. Might want to give it a try though, :icon_thumleft:. Long ago for six years I lived on Lake Champlain near Plattsburg, NY, & I sure remember some rugged, though beautiful, winters. Six years was enuf for me! :cat: :hello: Andi

I feel just like the rest of you. From the Midwest through New England it is cold. Very cold. I wish there was a bit more snow to insulate the ground and keep it from freezing really deep. I week ago it was above freezing and I hit a new spot and found 6 large cents. The next day it snowed and then the temperature dropped like a rock and stayed there. There's no end in sight to the cold and I can't wait to get back to this spot. I was amused by one post from Texas saying it got down to 30. I wish it would get up to 30. Forecast high for today is 16. Time to get out the old maps and history books and make plans for the spring.

Seems to be a crook in the jet Stream this winter that won't stop! Midwest and east coast way below normal, West coast way above normal.

Here in Chicago, even though the days are slowly getting longer, spring seems VERY far off.

Saturdays' forecast in Middle Tennessee....39.....Sunday....49.......time to get out there and let the dirt fly!

Here in Mass we started out on the plus side this am...8 , expected high, 16! I wouldn't care if I could just get a shovel into the ground, but that's not happening either now.

So.....I found my self checking out a coin star machine found 2 zincs and a badge! I've been eyeing the snow piles to see if anything is laying on the ground.

I was able to detect and dig while it was snowing last Sunday due to a prior 3 day thaw. I don't think I will be that lucky again till spring, but I can hope!

Hope we all don't go stir crazy before spring! Happy what ever you are doing to maintain your sanity!

So done with it. We've had more snow by Jan 1st than we usually get all winter.
