Civil War Sword Belt Plate Found in my front yard July 24, 2013

[calmerthanu]

ive been detecting for a lil over 2 years now and have found some great stuff here in VA, especially civil era items, i have gone over my own property before and did not find any civil war items in it but i have found some in my neighbors yard, well i just recently acquired a wide scan coil for my tesoro tejon and was experimenting in my front yard today and got a decent signal, well i started diggin and kept digging and after about a foot down i got to my target and when i got to it out damn if it wasnt a 1851 style saber belt plate, im still in shock, it was under my nose the whole time, still cant believe it

Congrats, that is beyond cool! My front yard has furnished me with horseshoes and pieces of pot belly stove. I would much rather have a plate! Sub

In your yard !...DIG EVERYTHING. !

[floodcitykid]

Congrats...

just shows that one has to thoroughly search their property particuarly in "civil war" country, many houses are built over landfill and some relics may be deep....Such it is in the Manassas-Centreville area.

[CMDiamonddawg]

didn't even cost you a dime for gas , luv it when that happens ,

any more front yard relics there ?? post them up

Beautiful find. I love everything CW. Pls f/u with any future finds. Just bought a house with large front and backyard. If not for rusty nails I would have nothing to show for my efforts.

[BuckleBoy]

Sweet plate!

[calmerthanu]

quick update, the keeper that my buddy dug in the neighbors yard does not match up with this buckle, makes me wonder if theres another buckle lurking nearby haha
