I live in San Francisco for now and about every three blocks there's a "medical wellness" clinic, you'd think the entire City has some dread illness. Whatever, I smoke a spliff with friends in a disco, preferably Europe or Australia, that's about it, but better than drinking alcohol.

Agreed! It's not a "gateway" drug as some believe. I have first hand experience with this whole topic. And yes I did inhale! The fact that it has to be acquired in black market situations where many other drugs may be available leads to "gateway" experimentations! Legalize it and get with the program. Alcohol causes way more health and socioeconomic problems than THC.

By reading the book botany of desire you can understand that the marijuana plant has adapted and given humans what they want in exchange for the survival of itself. The plant has given to us so we will keep it going.Plants understand this concept.A plant will adjust to be wanted for it's survival. This is with certain flowers as well. You read the book.I have done a great deal of research on marijuana, and it is truly an amazing plant. The CNN documentary weed was well done.I think marijuana will be the next big drug, but there will be a fight with the big drug companies first. The report of marijuana blocking cancer cells really surprised me.

For the best medical benefit, people render the plant material down
into a very potent oil, and that oil will contain all of the Cannabinoids
(not just THC) that are contained in the leaves, buds, stems etc.

Several people that I know quite well) have used this oil to
battle everything from skin cancer to lung cancer. It helped in all
cases, and for the melanoma case (used as an external balm) it
completely eradicated the cancerous lesions.

You know, I never realized it in this way. Yea, I had my stint in the drug culture for many years, and getting weed required dealing with the underworld, and other drugs were presented there eventually. Did I find weed first? No, alcohol was. Still keeping weed illegal after all this time just creates the demand and requires curious people to enter the dark side with dealers.

I never ever saw pot heads fight, and driving was usually something we LOOKED for a designated driver. Totally different than drinking alcohol, and I done way more than my share of driinking and driving. Everybody seems to think they can still drive on a booze buzz, and will argue if you tell'em they can't. I ain't had a good smoke in many years because it's illegal, but I wouldn't argue a single person if I was high again, for any reason I can think of. I've seen it all with boozers though.

It is just insane to feel M-Jane is evil. It is quite beneficial unless you figure the ****-weed and the junk in the rolling papers. Well regulated weed quality, legal, IMO, would be just smart. Most passive substance I know of. It sure as hell ain't a gateway drug. These days kids raid the parents medicine cabinets or simply get cheap and easily accessable meth. These are the to biggest problem areas I see today. Parents need to realize that they have to watch their kids closely...you know...PARENT. Children seeme to have evloved as our social equals at any age. What I am saying is that much of the reason kids begin to get hammered early is becuse of a way over relaxed and trusting set of parents.

If a plant adjusts to be wanted for it's survival, why is my yard full of crab grass?

Its revenues in the closet. Legalization of alcohol created tax revenue during very hard times. Legalization of the pot will create tax revenue during very hard times.

Let's see: Cigarettes bad, pot good. Is that about it?

Ok, HOW is pot OK, while cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco are bad?
Tobacco isn't bad for you. It's the crap they put into them. Also the fiberglass in the filters, now carpet in them now to make them go out. That's why. Pot is natural thing it doesn't require any chemical process to get a final product, like say cocaine or beer or other drugs.
I roll my own cigars for a hobby out of whole leaf tobacco and the taste is a lot better then those nasty cigarettes my wife smokes. With both it and pot you put a seed in the ground and harvest the final product.

Did you know hemp is illegal to grow in the us. And it's because of the timber and cotton industry. In other parts of the world you can't grow cotton or harvest mass amounts of timber for paper. So they grow hemp fields use the hemp for a filler in their clothes along with cotton or polyester and use the waste for filler in their paper. No lie.

I look at this from a different perspective. I don't think the government should be involved in drugs at all. It's none of the government's business what people put in their bodies, and it's immoral to force otherwise law-abiding people to behave according to someone else's standards. Assuming you are harming no one else, do what you want. Whats the difference between the government forcing people not to use drugs, and the government forcing people to take drugs?
Jim
PS: I don't use drugs

Amen!

We should do what we can to keep our Government out of the drug dispensing/taxing business. In the fictional story Brave New World a drug called Soma was developed to pacify the people. A gram in time saves nine was the mantra.
I remember when military C-130's brought in drugs from Panama and were distributed in the cities during Bush sr was on watch. Their actions don't "Promote the general welfare" and in fact do the opposite. No one can solve a problem they don't understand and with much our Gov gets involved in, understanding isn't one of them.
As far as pot goes, no control, no taxes. Some here make their own alcohol and risk jail doing it. That's government involvement. Like pot is a natural plant alcohol is also a natural process. We should never encourage unnecessary taxation. It will just get worse.
