I believe we need a gun thread. Carrying while detecting?

Just read all 199 posts on this thread!
It is comforting to me to know the majority of the people here are pro carry. I for one am comforted by the fact that there are good people out there armed. As for the snow flakes out there, As I tell my snow flake in-laws, You are indirectly reaping the benefits of having good people around you armed. Someday an armed citizen just may save your life when some form of evil comes your way.
I live in CA and do have a CCW. They are easier to get that you think. unless you live in LA or SF counties. Then your SOL , I always carry. Violent crime can happen anywhere!
I heard Orange county was softening up a bit. Maybe I need to move next door. LA is a NO GO for sure.

Guns are illegal in some of the most unsafe places of the world. Machetes and knives are just as deadly, and you can't hear stabbings going off around you.

If you look at the Murder rates in the UK and other countries where guns are banned, they are pretty much the same as here in the Good ol USA. Except that the murders are by clubbing and stabbing! Anyone Hellbent on getting it done, will get it done. And before the Snowies can say yeah but they can't do mass killings with an AR. Ahem.... They make Bombs.

Hey Mxt. Good to see you posting more. Welcome back. Yeah, Chub started something that appeals to MANY! ╦╦Ç

I was once qualifying my off duty Glock in a Kydex paddle holster and in the speed of the moment, drew a pistol that was in half a holster. It had snapped off when my drawstroke was out of line. Havent used kydex for anything except range fun shooting since.

fwiw, on holsters, my opinion is that you need to try a variety of brands and models. We are all built differently and some brands just work better for some body types. Some years ago, I noticed that every concealment holster I had ever settled on was the deSantis brand.
Here are a few of my faves. Two Galco sholder rigs, an Old World strong side and the Uncle Mike's that I did a complete makeover for. ╦╦Ç

Hmm. Why is it that the cities here (Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, DC) with the most restrictive gun laws, have the highest murder-by-gun rates? ╦╦Ç

I have a nephew (I think its orange co) who is early his early 20s who recently obtained a CA concealed carry permit. He told me it is proof that unicorns do exist.

Don't believe any stats until they are broken out by genus-species-variety.
Said in Scientificese so as to not get my post deleted.

You're right, Champ. My point was to say that "gun control", i.e. no guns at all, DOES NOT WORK. ╦╦Ç

Stereotyping will definitely get this thread shut down. We have all seen those stats and it is true and disheartening.

What? You don't have a Unicorn?

I'm sure Champ will add a Unicorn..... when he finds a good CCW holster for it. ╦╦Ç

I knew of a *friend* of a *friend* who worked in the merchant navy. Had a hollowed out log which split in two with a tight tapered plug on one side and matching hole to push it together. Hand fitted by a carpenter in indonesia....covered in thick grease and lived in the engine room of his vessel. Overlooked by customs for nearly a decade. I believe the log made him the best part of a house, tax free in cash. Of course this is just a story and for information purposes only.

I am sure that is not the only story like this.

One of the reasons I would never return. All the trivial nonsense. The fact is these petty laws are ENFORCED!!!! The police park a marked car on the side of the road....remove the rear wheel as if to appear they have a flat tyre....position the speed camera in front of the vehicle....wait for suckers to speed past. Is this not entrapment? Was there a referendum on gun control in 1996?

Sit through a home invasion for fear of litigation from the government or perpetrator? Thats simply PSYCHOTIC.

Chub
I don't see entrapment in your scenario. ╦╦Ç

I guess I am more like andy than barney, never yet have seen a need to carry a gun

Well Andy , they just get all scratched up an dirty pushing them across the ground to move em. So's we carry em.

You kidding? Barney loved guns but he was only allowed to carry one bullet in his shirt pocket. He was a little "jumpy"

Yeah, I know; Everybody on the inturweb is a monster sized ninja that has vanquished all foes without breaking a sweat.

That's true, but I'm not lying about my size. I'm done debating this with you. If you read my posts carefully, you'd realize that I'm trying to protect you guys from legal problems. Thinking you can shoot an unarmed person because they said boo is a dangerous premise. That's all I'm going to say on this issue...
