Been hunting this area for 4 years. My buddy usually gets the artifacts, and I left with agates and Jasper's.

He was distracted, and walked right this orange beauty. I knew right away it was special.

My whole life, they tell me the natives in seattle didn't use arrowheads....

That's a gorgeous piece, especially with the light through it.

My swag thinks it probably a knife rather than a speer or atl atl point. It's just shaped right to be used to gut fish. swag = scientific wild azz guess.

Thanks for the response, and words. I am not sure of its use. It was on the beach, and it is pretty large. Would fit in your hand okay. I would love to seem an intact example.

Of course the natives used arrow heads though they kept the ones that glow in the dark to use as tracers(tee hee)........................63bkpkr

What you have there is not a tool or spearhead..atlatl dart or arrowhead.
Its called a core.
It is what is left of a larger piece of material that flakes were removed from to make tool and points from those flakes.
A supply stone.

So it's still a great find, that thing is cool, you can see right through it

You can post it in the Native American artifacts forum if you would like a different opinion..but I guarantee you will get the same answer.

This piece does have a symmetry, and this symmetry is in the shape of an 'arrowhead'. Also, it was on the beach of WA state, so the imperfectness I would attribute to being worn from the waves and pebbles and the like. I certainly am open to this being just another rock, but I still think it was the tool - not a supply stone. Think more pics would help? haha, Dang, I sound like a thick-skulled person huh? (my rock is this, blah blah blah ) I love you folks discussing my find, motivates me to go out for more!

More pics would be good.. I've been doing this for decades..just trying to lend a hand.
If its flat on the other side..its definitely not a projectile point.
By the way... none of the large projectile points were actually "arrowheads" arrowheads are small and light so they can actually fly correct.
They are also the most recent of the projectiles since the bow was only invented a comparitively short time ago.
