Hello!

We are a television production company developing a documentary series about scavengers and treasure hunters who explore dried up lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water for items that have recently been exposed due to the overwhelming drought.

We are currently seeking avid hunters and scavengers who would be interested in participating. In addition to the adventure, travel would be paid and time would be compensated.

If you are interested, please email tyler@pitch5productions.com.

Thanks!

here we go again :icon_scratch:

give this guy a shot...as long as its not another,"boom baby"stupid deal it might be alright

How are they bodies of water if they are dried up?:icon_scratch:

If there is no script involved, all expenses are paid and I can make as much as I do at my job I would probably do it. IFI got to wear a disguise and use an alias. Sounds right up my alley.

One big trouble you're going to experience, is the sorry-sad-old story of the following: Every single lake and reservoir tends to be public, right ? (unless you can find privately owned lakes?). And the moment you step foot into city, county, state, or fed. owned lakes and start "blabbing to the world" on something you're finding there, well then guess what ? HEAVEN HELP YOU if you (gasp) "found an old coin". Or some county or state official might gripe "wait a minute, we have rules forbidding "harvesting and collecting", blah blah blah".

Mind you that's not to say that detecting at these spots isn't rouine, and no one cares (ie.: you can go till you're blue in the face, and no one would gripe). But just saying when you put that on TV, then it can reach those pencil pushers or archies who *do* care.

Example: Why do you think that Diggers show, when they scout locations to shoot their hunts, will ONLY do private property ? BECAUSE OF THIS EXACT REASON !

Therefore detecting is one of those hobbies that often-times better 'out-of-site/out-of-mind'. And since bodies of water tend to be public of-some-sort, you're going to face this problem.

Yes Tom but imagine the drama! Confiscations, detector fights, handcuffs, stampedes... Chances are the OP won't be back to read any of this anyway... They usually post and run. I'd watch it though. Especially if before they dug a pulltab they would show something shiny in the hole, go to commercial, come back for the reveal and SPANISH COB! Meanwhile I would still be thinking about Doug with mesothelioma and Viagra...

Where are you guys shooting this?
Will you make us do cartwheels if we find a penny for dramatic effect, or can we act normal?
Will it be geared towards a viewer interested in history or someone who enjoys Hardcore Pawn Shop and Wrestlemania marathons?

We plan on filming in the Southwest where water shortage is a problem - California, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, etc.

And no cartwheels are necessary :) we are trying to create a series that captures the history of the items that are being uncovered as a result of the water drying up, all the while illustrating the fun and adventure of the hunt.

In reference to the points made about public v. private land, we plan on working with local governments to ensure everyone is happy.

Yes, reality TV is pretty terrible right now, but we're trying to create something more "high brow." Again, please reach out if interested.

Thanks for the tip. This is actually something that is on our radar and we plan on working with local governments to obtain the proper permits. We think this is just a logistical issue that we will be able to work around!

I'm still here RW! Glad to hear you'd watch the show :) We think it's going to be interesting. Lot's of fascinating articles of what they're finding now that the water has receded...

Yah "they" find all kinds of things that were left for dead never to be seen again. As long as these things stay lost forever, then everyone is okay. Heaven forbid something gets into the hands of a civilian before it turns to dust.

Tycher, I love you to death, but ..... this is not wise :( You go in to various govt. officials (bless your little heart) making sure "it's ok to harvest and remove old things". Your "pressing question" gets bandied back and forth to various powers-that-be, their staff legal counsel, and ..... yes ending up on the desk of an archie to "sign off on". Because, doh, you "can't be too careful", right ?

But then guess what happens Tycher ? Whereas most of those places (barring obvious historic sensitive monuments) any of us md'rs could detect till we're blue in the face, and no one cared, right ? But now you put it on their radar. And let's say you generate a bunch of "no's" (before finally finding a reservoir that "let's you" do what you're asking). Well guess what happens when that "no" information trickles back down to rank and file ? They start booting others! Persons to whom perhaps they'd never have paid a 2nd glance to, before your "pressing question".

So with all due love and respect, be aware, this is not helping md'ing :(

I would be interested in learning more. Thanks.

WOW! Another head hunter ad! That makes about the 4th or 5th Head Hunting post here doesn't it?

Maybe the owners of TreasureNet should change the name to "Talent Looking for Producers!"

Nothing good could possibly come from this. If you do get a yes and make a show every want to be will start tearing up the spots your showing as holding treasure.

T.V. shows only end up bringing out the idiots that screw something good up for the rest of us.

I think you are spot on, Tom.....I don't think this is a good idea. Even if no one steps forward to swing an MD, they will create an MDer.:censored:

Agreed. It seems like only the people who are inexperienced with metal detecting and treasure hunting want to do shows about it, and there hasn't been a good one yet. HEY, PRODUCERS: Make a detectorist or treasure show that real detectorists or treasure hunters will approve. That is my challenge to you all.

What I would like to see is a traveling detectorist - kind of like the Booze Traveler, but a treasure hunter. Now THAT would be cool, because he or she could meet up with other detectorists from other countries and do all kinds of detecting and treasure hunting. Its would be cool for this "Treasure Traveler" to meet up with the popular YouTube treasure guys like Gary's Detecting, Frederick Barnes, Nuggetnoggin, Aquachigger, ad infinium. How cool would that be? How cool and how simple would it be to produce a very lightly-scripted show, with a little class, and no drams, and no hooting and hollering like monkies when they find juice and roundness (*gag*)?

I challenge you.
