well it looks like i will not be metal detecting any time soon. i was mugged and all was stolen. my detector, probe, digging tools, wallet, everything gone. luckily i was not hurt. don't know when i can get another detector. maybe the police will find them and i will get my stuff back. besides that it was a good b-day.

Sorry to hear that Charles, I would do what others advised and hit up all the pawn and second hand stores (at least call them) in Washoe County for your detector. Ask the law enforcement agency responsible (Reno PD?) to look at mug shots of frequent offenders or gang members that live in the immediate area and possibly make an identification. "Mugging," or robbery by force or fear, is a felony in the state of Nevada just as in most other states. The suspects would do prison time upon conviction. I am glad you are OK and no piece of property is worth getting hurt over. When in rougher areas, I keep a constant vigil, maybe one earphone off, and a big, sharp digging instrument at the ready in my off hand. There is safety in numbers. Sub

Just want too tell everyone that in today's times if you are going out into the woods or field that is close by a major interstate or route you need to be-careful about 2-3 years ago a MDer in Spotsylvania Virginia was attacked and mugged while hunting for Confederate relics by two large african americans with pistols and they took his wallet and MDer... You just do not know when you go into the woods that you don't go into much. You really should carry a pistol or bring some mace or something because seriously things like this happen and there are criminals looking for places too hide,etc and people who can see you from the road could decide you are a good person too mug.

I always carry my XD .40 sub with a few spare magazines pretty much everywhere I go. I keep a .45 with a spare magazine in the truck.

I was loading my coke machine at my laudromat on saturday morning 4 weeks ago and my truck was stolen.... I was upset but not too bad. I have never had an insurance claim in 25 years.... I was not upset till I remembered I had my metal detector and pinpoiter in the back since I was about to go hunting then I was pissed....anyway the police found my truck about 30 minutes later and my detector was still in there... my wallet gone and big hole burned in my seat but I feel I came out pretty good. Hopefully you'll get your stuff back.
