You should go there, I remember my 1st time in the Superstition Mountains. I felt like Braveheart after he won in battle.

Could it have been Spanish cabin Or Indian cabin instead?

The "Peralta" Stone Maps --- On Their Own

There are lots of theories about who might have made them, when they were made, where they were made, why they were made, and whether they were found or stolen.

But the only thing that is for certain, is that there are some stone maps, commonly refered to as "The Peralta Stones," and that, whatever they are, they do exist. That is the only thing, I think, that is absolutely known about them.

There seems to have been several copies made, at various times, by various people, as can be seen by the different photographs of them having stone colors, and stain colors and patterns, which are not the same.

And there are some photographs of them on a car belonging to Travis Tumlinson. These are supposedly the earliest images of them.

Beyond that, the only solid evidence is the Stones themselves. Everything else is just conjecture, and although some evidence of their origin seems very convincing, it's a mighty foggy subject.

And that is the reason for this topic title.

Do the maps, themselves, tell their own story?

It would help to have good, high resolution, photographs of the originals---but there are so many copies, how does one know which is which?

An Indian ruin of some sort on a saddle - is what I've heard as a clue heading towards the correct canyon.

I have been thinking that the stones were carved by the hands of a stone mason— possibly from the Knights Templar who took a religious treasure or treasures from Jerusalem…And I’d even go as far as to suggest they lead to sacred church artifacts and possibly even the ark of the covenant…But who can say for certain???And here is a little food for thought Blindbowman…Did you know that the . known as Dagesh comes from Aramaic…

in fact the way it used ,it is in Hebrew not Aramaic , , but one confuses the other often . mason , you really mean freemason ,Bloodlines are more then just giving birth to ones off spring .i my self am the 17th generation of William or Benjamin in a Chain ..a group of families know the codes by heart ,,. and grow up translating them when we see the codes ..you in fact will learn more from your family then any teacher you will ever know .the stones are more then any hooked X ...

Hello Chuck
As I wrote in the past, using my knowledge in Spanish coded treasure maps, I found out the stone maps are Jesuit made and are related to three vaults in which they hid their church treasures before their expulsion from New Spain.

As I wrote also in the past, Jesuits and other organizations borrowed the Spanish treasure codes, adding to them their own characteristics, like maps without a specific orientation but related to specific landmarks for the Jesuits, and arrows which are pointed always to the south for the KGC, etc.

One of the principal Spanish treasure code is, they are drawing every shape on a map following rows of stones and other shapes on the ground. For this their drawings/images in the maps look distorted and not uniform as someone would do if would draw a line with a pencil on a paper. Look from very close to a a line from a Spanish/Mexican treasure map, and you will observe that the line is made by various zigzags and very small parts of a straight lines. For this also their words on a map are not the same size or in line and also some words are distorted because there are not there in the field the proper shapes to build up the proper letter.

Now, after explained all these, I would say how the Priest stone map was drew using the same Spanish treasure code principle, by following rows of rocks and other shapes on the ground. So, it's very difficult to recognize its shape on the ground if someone doesn't know the region which was made for.
I will post three different GE overlays of the Priest, to see how it fits on the ground, beginning with a faint image to a more recognizable. Pay attention to every detail and I'm sure you will understand.
