Well the ole bench grnder is my friend.... **ARC whispers BS ! ! ! that son of a biatch grinder... errr shhhhhh ! ***
Anyway... yes... the ole bench grinder is my friend.
And i will never buff a large fishing lure with treble hooks on the wire wheel on said bench grinders other side again.
That one... almost ended badly... VERY badly. heh
Home builds were the grinders of my youth.
No tool rests. No belt guards. Just an old electric motor and belt , switch and double sided arbor.
Still get pangs from turning one on one day and about the time it hit top R.P.M. a stout piece of wire about six inches long flew out and stuck in the pocket of my left shoulder.
It didn't want to pull out willingly, but came out.
I knew who had been using it prior and ran him down for a hardest punch of appreciation . Before telling him why...
Guy in school metal shop approached the wire wheel when I was on an adjacent grinder.
I suggested he tuck in that long teeshirt but he said he was fine.
A minute later he panicked when the wheel snatched his shirt and was rolling it up. Grabbed his shirt and pulled for all he was worth. Stopped the wheel , motor humming and I suggested he hit the stop switch.
Then laughed at his dirty holed up tee hanging to his knees in the front.
We sold Dads homemade grinder/wire wheel.
I almost felt bad , but hindsite said let it go..
