Good afternoon! Wife and I celebrated Mothers Day yesterday! Today we are celebrating her 73rd birthday! Her birthday often falls on Mothers day Sunday. Bit of a bummer for her sometimes.

Happy birthday to her and you both have a great day.

Plenty of wood eating insects in my area
Carpenter Ants might be as bad as a Termite.
Was doing a renovation on the cottage we bought. Putting in a larger window. The guy helping opened up the wall.
There was an ant nest that filled 2 joist spaces.
We slammed the wall paneling back up, grabbed the shop vacuum. Wife showed up with her shoes on, and it was a 20 minutes, shop vacuum, stomping, dancing, swatting affair. The guy had a Sawzall just started cutting wood that was full of the eggs and queen, tossing it out the window cavity.

Maybe gas and a match would of worked better.🤣

Did the middle picture end up as a castle? A guy where I once lived in Maryborough built his own castle. Looked quite good too.
It did look a little like a castle.

ICF homes, I helped build a couple. Tornado proof they say.

We looked at different building options back 15 yrs ago while building on the Island.
ICF was something fairly new in the area, a few homes were fine this way.
Problem was the cement part and not properly vibrating the concrete to eliminate the air voids.
We viewed one job that was a Swiss cheese screw up, there was some pretty large gaps in the wall structure.
Now these issues are addressed in the pouring process.

Yesterday I called around for a possible solution for the tractor repair.
"Need to see it"
So I took the part off the lower pully that spun the shaft that was connected to the pump.
I'm starting to think that this was a shop fabricated shaft.
Instead of the male/male typical shaft this one has a female/male.
I can see the welded section that they've done.
The overall length should of been 1/2" longer and it would of been a better fit on both ends of the unit.

Besides that I ventured to the other side of the berry patch. All was good till I went over 20 ft to other row end.
Now the skidsteer is there mired down to the pan.
Not sure on how I'm going to pull it out, as the big tractor isn't operating.
Toys are great till they break or get stuck. 🤣

The ICF method has been around here for decades. My friend & I bricked over a house made this way in the 90's. It does have some excellent benefits. Strong, quiet, well insulated, etc. The cons exist too. We had a very difficult time installing adequate wall ties on the exterior because of the thick foam. The same is true for interior walls. Also, extensive bracing is needed to support the walls until they are pumped full of concrete. They really haven't caught on here as a mainstream building option.
