I got this one. All self contained in the little tote, battery and everything. Easy to just grab and toss into whichever boat I'm using.

Did you ever see those ones you can use without a boat, just for bank fishing?
The transducer is in the form of a float and uses Wi-Fi. Your phone is the screen for it. So you just throw it out as you walk along a river bank checking for fish.

Speaking of "smart electrical meters"

Im not game to touch anything in our meter. Still waiting for it to be replaced.
It still has some ancient old fuse box stuff. Last electrician that saw it I asked him what wires he would recommend I get to replace any that might burn out. He said don't. Call your real estate for them to send someone out to do it.
He wasn't saying that so he'd get more work as he was just doing a safety check on the property for a govt company he works for. New law here every 2 yrs an electrical safety check on rentals.
One power outlet in the house he replaced it was that bad he wasn't leaving it, wasn't part of his job either. We'd never used it, thankfully.

We have plug in to a socket electrical testers and if any of them, or any light even flickers...... they are swapped out for new, when I help remodel homes anything that is suspect is fixed, by an electrician so it's legal and home owners insurance is not voided.

month, so it was time for a

Chilli....not sure it'll work if they changed the smell. It's an old trick I learned
while steelhead fishing. Give a spoon a good spray, and they'd just hammer the
thing. Don't know if you have steelhead there...it's a trout that hangs out in the
ocean for awhile, gets to be totally badassed, and then comes back into the river.

Kinda like hooking a Ferrari....

I was actually looking to buy one of those, but after reading the reviews (not too good) I decided to get the Garmin.

The concept is great though isn't it. Especially here where our natives hang out in one spot waiting for prey to come to them in rivers rather than actively hunting.
They were pretty new when I first heard of them.
But I did read on a now folded fishing forum site here where a guy got one and just wanted to make sure it was working before he went fishing so tried the connectivity by throwing it in his swimming pool. It showed multiple fish in his pool.
You'd think though now with how more advanced things are that they could get something like that to work. Maybe just isn't the market enough for them to have bothered to keep trying. Id love one that worked though.

We have been getting some different types slowly introduced, Rainbows and Browns the originals introduced here and were here when I was a kid.
Some Salmon types are in a few deeper crater lakes and larger ones where they can survive summers down deeper and cooler. Most other areas haven't met with great success due to higher water temps and shallower water. In some highland streams there are a few newies, brook and a few others, but where I am its Rainbows or Browns.
Here and it shows adaption, on our Victorian Surf coast which has the Otway ranges directly behind it, the trout that are introduced to those streams flowing into the ocean off of them have eventually become sea run and people now and then catch them in the saltwater estuaries open to the sea. The odd trout are even caught, not often but recorded, by surf fisherman close to those estuaries. I once read about a guy that targeted the sea run ones and he said there were more there than people realised. He regularly caught them.

Edit. This is WD40 on most shelves now. Can still get the original now n then but mostly where I am its this. I like it, still works great and inside is the best because I don't smell anything like the original which was like you spraying kero!

No....don't touch the meter! I meant set your thermostat in the house to different degrees. Moving down 1 degree at a time. Then watch how the heater comes on and off.

I guess I get the redneck badge then, because I can recall cooling off in one of the big round ones as a kid. Really no different than the modern above-ground pools, except for the lack of chemicals or filtration.

When empty, they're also pretty handy for getting baby chicks started (easy to keep them contained and near food, water, and heat). People also use them as raised garden beds.
