Looks like Friday night through Saturday rain here with a 55F high
I need to clear the man hole grate off from ice as the water is pooling on the top.
I'm thinking it has a frozen layer down below above the outlet.

Out of the loop dealing with Daily life crap! Winter blues and wanting Spring fever
Finally some 70s weather, so hitting it hard with yard work, garden and past due projects. Hope all here are well.
I would like to thank you Tnet and this RCT thread of gentleman for being the bouncing board here to discuss life events. Even though I've not met any of you in person, it's like i've slowly gotten to know you as personal friends over the years. I can get your opinions or advice even if I don't want it 😆, but as likely men we can carry on with it or without it peacefully. You guys are awesome. Thanks for being around. I really hope to be more involved in more conversation as I enter near retirement days like you. I really expect to detect, dive and fish more in the near future, and yes to get on the bike again as well MX....

Just completed the drain finding adventure.
4" of ice later drain grate exposed. (Same square grates one sees along the streets)

Water isn't going down, so a bucket of rock salt on top might melt a hole over the next 36 hrs.

If not maybe build a fire on it with a metal mesh to catch big ashes/material post burn.. At least you could cook a real big steak on it eventually.

Air might have allowed it to freeze deep.
Frost line four foot or deeper in cleared areas maybe until deeper ambient ground temps creep upward when cold above lets up.

I used to use post hole diggers at my first homestead every spring to punch through the frozen ground to drain a pool at the end of the driveway/parking area.
Every year I told myself a permanent drain would be better.
Then of course after filling in the hole weeks later I'd forget about it again.

The masked man and his indian friend, Tonto, Were nearing the end of the episode. They had already gotten surprised by the hidden bad guy.

Were made to drop their guns.

Then suddenly surprised their enemies and were in the midst of whippin' the tar out of them.

The masked man knocked his bad guy to the floor. Lying there, sprawled on the ground. While Tonto was still wrestling with his bad guy. The fallen bad man cursed the masked man,

"Curse you both, Tonto AND the LONE RANGER!!"

Suddenly, Tonto looked up in horror!

He stopped fighting and said out loud,

"OOOOOHHHH NOOOOOO!!"

He looked around, the masked man was gone! There was a clatter outside and then hoof beats rapidly running toward the sunset. And......he heard the familiar sound....

"HI HO SILVER AWAY!!!"

Tonto said, "WHY?!?! Why you have to say that!?!?"

Looks like 5 inches on the yard side of the drain. It just had a layer of frozen between the top and the bottom of the 4 x4 x4.5ft cement catchment.
Probably because of the weather and ice this winter.
It's all good now. First time salt has been used around the yard in 10 yrs.
