Today's heat will be a tad less so they say. Yesterday's 85F feeling like 112F with a hazy smokey air quality is maybe why a tad bit of smoker's cough and blowing the nose this AM.

It's less humid today, more smokey though and that will be a catch 22 for outdoor activities like berry picking.
The Hasps are on the edge now, as the paws are petting red from picking and getting a juice filed berry that explodes. Red as blood and it makes for a movie set scene when it runs off the fingers.

Wash and it turns a deep dark purple, then it look pretty normal again by morning. Repeat. The body just absorbs the colour I guess, and all the goodness associated with the berry juice.

Yes still eating them like candy and enjoying the picking still.

The news is leaking out with the like minded friends, and they want in on the action-I just have one rule:
I weigh you pre picking and after.
If you weigh less from not eating a good share of berries you will get charged more.
Deep blue lips and teeth has been a normal occurrence it seems.

The chicken barn is looking good, cement board on, new reused windows in now, rotted sill portions replaced. New insulation in where varmints wrecked the old. Ant problem knocked down, sheeting and house wrap going on today I hope.

1 bag of insulation for 6" was $156 for 120 sq.ft. Plus 2x9'x100' rolls of house wrap = a bill of $455.00 for those 3 items.
TOTAL INSANITY
I wouldn't want to be building a new home today it would be $650 just for material.

They proved that we would pay these crazy prices during COVID and now they're sticking it to us......

Gold was discovered along Grave Creek in Southern Oregon in the 1850s, sparking an influx of prospectors. Early hand and hydraulic mining in the Greenback Mining District eventually gave way to large-scale, heavy-duty operations like the Rogue River Gold Company's massive floating dredge, which excavated a 115-acre lake along the waterway in the late 1930s.

Early Placer Mining & The Gold Rush: Prospectors initially recovered gold directly from stream beds using basic panning and sluicing. As the easy gold dwindled, miners moved to hydraulic mining, which used high-pressure water nozzles to strip hillsides and ancient river terraces.
Hardrock Mining: In addition to the creek placers, rich quartz veins (lode mining) were discovered in the nearby hills. The nearby Greenback Mine, which operated from the late 1890s into the 1940s, became one of the most productive lode mines in Josephine County, yielding millions in gold.
The Grave Creek Dredge: By 1937, the Rogue River Gold Company constructed a massive 50-by-100-foot floating dredge on Grave Creek. The dredge floated in a 150-by-150-foot pond of its own making. It continuously dug up the gravel bank ahead, extracted the gold using sluice tables, and dumped the tailings behind, slowly "cruising" along the creek bed.
Decline & Legacy: The dredge ultimately ceased operations in 1939 because the heavy, rocky bedrock could not be efficiently cleared by the equipment. Historic records from the Western Mining History estimate that Grave Creek and its immediate placer deposits produced at least $400,000 in gold in early mining years, equivalent to millions today.

Lets hope there is some gold left. ALOT of that creek/area is claimed up.
