Things Youre Terrible At Doing

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

Can manufacture anything from wood , metal , or stone that my mind can get a picture of . Manage
the meanest animals if I can regulate the procedure . Drive in any environment with any vehicle and any load .
Money is what I have failed to acheive with these talents . :-[

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

Anything artistic. I can follow those ridiculous instructions that come with swing sets and gas grills but anything that requires me to be creative you can forget it. If something needs painted I have to get twice as much paint as necessary 'cause I get it everywhere.

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

GunFarce,

I blew coffee through my nose on that one..................even if the cat is missing. :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

I take THAT one to heart. I love working on old houses, etc. I can make work. I decided to change the walls in my kitchen about 25 years ago.

I replaced it with the "in fashion" paneling - and, after about 3 months, I hated it, so, decided to redo it in brick. While tearing down the old paneling, I found my daughter's missing chameleon. There was what looked like a miniature dinosaur skeleton sitting on top of the electric switch box. :BangHead:

Thankfully, my daughter didn't blame me - honest - I never saw it there.

I was also raised that the worst thing you can do is lie. You can probably get away with murder, but, don't lie about it. Consequently, as a child, I was much better off NOT lying. Unfortunately, I never fully developed that "social lie" finesse. As in "does this make my butt look big?" Uh, no, your big butt makes your butt look big............but, at least my family and friends learned that, if they wanted an honest opinion, that I was a good one to ask.

Luckily, I have learned that, in situations like that - shut up. :laughing7:

I've been a cook by trade for about 30 yrs, but I can't make a biscuit for the life of me. I think it's genetic

That's easy. You just open the can, butter your pan, preheat oven to 425 and bake for 8-10 minutes. :laughing7:

dang! why didn't I think of that!

I had a friend who lived across the street from me. He built a addition to his home over a cement block crawlspace. After nailing down the floor, he couldn't find the dog.. Yup, he had to pull up a whole section of floor, to let his 'St. Bernard' out of the crawlspace.. Something that big would have started to stink after a week or so..

olroy, when you cut a board too short, that is when you need one of those old fashioned Board Stretchers. Just
send one of the new guys out to the truck to get it. LOL.

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

Scott, yer darn tootin'. And when you get too many of those nails with the head on the wrong end, give them to one
of the new guys and tell him that they are for the other side of the house. :laughing7:

Or you could just use a left-handed hammer on 'em! :D

Also, tell the new guy that his level is no good 'cause it has a bubble in it.

Best,
Scott

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

You guys are bad, bad- bad!!!!!!!!!

No sky-hooks? And, when the board is too short, turn the measuring tape in the other direction. (of course, that was back when we had the wooden measuring tapes - well, actually, I still use one - it starts a 0" at one side, the other side starts with 72" (backwards).

When I first started at Procter & Gamble, one of the guys sent me for a "Smitty" - but, ha, ha - I knew they were pulling my leg. They acted mad, and sent me to the parts department. So, being there only a week, I figured they'd call our parts department, and they'd all have a joke at my expense. Joke WAS on me - P & G did have a tool called a "Smitty" - he was a bunch of allen wrenches (a group of 10 different sizes- in a metal holder), made by the "Smitty" company.

But, I did like it when, for a short time, I had a girl looking for a metric adjustable wrench. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Kinda like your first year in the new high school building - everyone would send you up the wrong staircase, to the wrong labs, the whole bit.
But, payback was fun, at least.

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

I consider myself a "jack" of all trades and master of a few, but there is one thing that I will not tackle. That is glass cutting. I tried stain glass windows once, got the soldering part but oh the glass cutting part. I understand the procedure, but it just does not work for me. I guess it's a case of once burned, twice shy. Now powdered glass, that's a different story. I did enameling for years with good results. Frank

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

Frankn,

Don't take take that to heart (stained glass-the glass part) I have worked with glass forever (got it from my grandfather), and honestly - stained glass (the real stuff), is SO hard. Even the folks that do it all the time and are experts experts, (not me), break pieces and make chips every single time. I can even tell you that, they used to use the "mistakes" for the glass kalidiscopes. That's how they would 'save' them.

Small talk, I hate it! I am so awkward at it, I make everyone around me uncomfortable. Much better to remain silent and let people think I'm snobby, which I'm not!! The times I do actually manage get polite words out, they ring incredibly insincere, which I don't mean to be either!

I'm with ya on that one naturegirl.

A Saint Bernard is one of those big Swiss Alpine dogs that carry the cask of booze around their necks.. This particular dog of my neighbors was in the Purina hall of fame for finding a child lost in the bush during the winter, then lay down beside the child and kept him warm all night, then alerted rescuers in the morning.. Charley was a good dog, worth pulling a floor up for.. :laughing7:

Re: Things You're Terrible At Doing

GunFarce,

:hello: :hello:

I know what a St. Bernard is - hubby and I bought one for my dad - when my daughter was about 2 years old. (42 years ago).

I just cannot imagine "losing" a St. Bernard in the floor.. :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

Beth

Forgot - His name was Saint Beuford of Mountaintop (sp) - but, since my daughter couldn't say all that, so she called him BooBoo. So, BooBoo was his name-o. :laughing7:
