Treasure Clue, can you help?

Maybe I'm just dumb and blind :o

Bought the book about a week ago and have been readuing through the forum. Many thanks to the guys who posted the newcomers hints and findings. Boy some of the images and messages are obscure to say the least. Also some of the insects that have been pointed out are way ouside of my brains ability to discern them. Let me know what you guys are smoking ::)

I think the puzzles are just a bit too hard for someone like me. I grew up on a Treasure book called With Interest, published in 1982 in England and done by David Betts. Boy, me and my mates trashed about 6 months of our undergrad years working on it. We got pretty far through it and it was very, very enjoyable. The nice thing about it was that there were lots of solvable puzzles in it to keep you going. Some were hard but many were of the letter transposition, cyphers, morse code and flags etc etc. MS seems to have gone with obscure images and "tricks" which many people just can't fathom.

I'll never come anywhere close to fathoming out this book. Heck I can't even see some of the answers when they were given to me on a plate ni previous postings, but I'll continue to hang out here and see what is going on. Actually having grown up in Ireland, many of the things like zip codes and geographical references mean nothing to me so I'm at a disadvantage anyway.

Good luck lads and lassies.

Litdoc, most of the clues outside the poem might be hints to locations. I think MS made this complicated just enough so that all the clues are interconnected but not as complicated as some of the people on this forum make it. The clues are vaguely obvious (oxymoron not intended LOL) and if you pay attention to all aspects of the picture without actually dissecting it LOL then this hunt for clues will be much easier. BTW, I wasn't able to make this out, but i think there is an optical illusion on page 62 with Pook lying under the sheet. I've seen an illusion like this one before in black and white. In order to see the image you must stare at the image for about 30-60 seconds and close your eyes and look upwards. When i did it, the image didn't last very long but it seemed interesting. If anyone finds anything from it please inform me.

hello all. new with a view. pg.68 darklings are shaped to form letters. new / not new? inside cover by beetle and butterfly. lines in blue and white background. shaped like crystal pook??? also on inside back pg. between butterfly and hummingbird. not sure of design. eyes hurt...

anyone figure out why M.S either printed his initials or full name on his prints with numbers on pics 99, 03, 04. more stuff 4 the gray matter...? ::)

Not sure Jack, but if I try to stuff one more ATT clue into my grey matter it's gonna leap straight up out of my skull and run yelping down the street like a scalded rat!
Screee! Screee! Screee!..............

LITDOC, i've just finished reading your post to me and would like to apologize to you . for reasons i've explained to you i felt you were personally attacking me. you've expressed this is not so and i am sorry for my post to you on this board.

Thanks Carol,

For the record, everyone should know that I am a big joker, and the only person I offend on purpose, is my husband. (Oops, he's reading over my shoulder!)

Hi Jack,

I guess the author/illustrator was simply signing his artwork. The numbers represent the year the piece was finished. As you can see, it took him a number of years to complete them all. I have heard eight to ten years all together for planning the hunt and preparing the text and artwork. Now, we are not discounting the chance that he is still using those numbers as part of a code, because it is unusual for illustrations in children's books to be signed.

??? ok i dont know if im doing any of this right not very good on the computer just got a couple weeks ago

:) ive been hearing alot about this stuff from a co worker and was wondering if this treasure was true or not i have been reading most of the postings and was also wondering if it was worth getting for my two kids

My Brain Hurts and Hoppperr,
Thanks very much, yes that is the book I remember, it's been bugging the heck out of me. (almost as much as ATT) Anyhow, maybe knowing that book inspired MS will help.

HELLO EVERYONE, i was going through the illustrations today at work and looking at those trees and trying to figure out what to make of them or not when i remembered that zac told pook the trees were talking. sorry dont have my book handy to remember the lines exactly or the pge but im sure we all know it by heart. any way i keep thinking....the trees are talking . now im going to leave and see if i cant figure out what they're saying. i'm also dying to know if anyone has looked at or found those creatures i posted yesterday? i am interested in what everyone has to say. goodnight .

Whooooooo, what a day. Joined this and another forum and read till my eyes bulged. Certainly an interesting book. I also read the Jet solution. Hmmmmmmm, now while I think the guy is pretty sharp if not a bit off the wall at times, it sure is elegant. Unfortunately the pictures of his tokens are conveniently blurred and he has now conveniently tossed them into the ocean. It would also be a financially sound decision for MS to discredit the solution and keep the hunt alive. Sure would be a great loss in revenue if the hunt finshed in 6 months rather than in 2007. Anyway, maybe Jet has already been proven to be a hoax, there was some mention about him and David Blane, who was daft enough to starve himself in London in a box. No big deal. Why chose London when the English are used to hunger strikers etc.... he was looked on as just some nutso American just pure publicity seeking. Anyway Jet's solution was a interesting read for those who haven't seen it.

Ok I have been only doing this for about 3 weeks now and I have been reviewing what everyone post. nothing really new has come up for me but it still helps to hear what other people think. BUT I think I might have a new one for everyone to check out. My eyes are so blurry now I have to stop for the night but maybe someone else can help us solve this. The very first page and the very last page on the inside of the book. I was staring at the pictures thinking if I wrote this book and if I drew these picutres I would put alot of clues in this section. Then I noticed letters popping up. The only ?word I got is what I think is "Hasty" There are more I can tell but like I said my eyes are going. HELP. I found the word HASTY on the first page opposite the title page. It is in the sky to the right of the ladybug, between the blades of grass. Also anyone got any ideas about the dragon fly on this page and what is up with the sun glasses. Let me know what you think. Thanx again

GOOD MORNING ALL, i was looking at my companion book last night and there was a pg in it , forgive me i dont have the book handy at this moment, but it is the pg with the key and clock on it below a puzzle. i found this odd because at first i thought it was another puzzle then realized it wasnt . it is the only spot in that book where this is done . made me think key =time . kinda made me think about my other post on the linden stump with all the creatures surrounding it as being a clock or a sundial. any suggestions. have a good day hunting.

I think the key and clock appear together twice in the CB and there is a clock on the cover.
