Treasure Clue, can you help?

Well, I've pretty much scoured through all of the posts. Let me tell you, after doing that AND following my own hunches with the book, my brain is pretty much tapioca at the moment. I hope not to dredge up passed info, but my synapses are shooting rather slowly at the moment.

There is one question that I would like to ask, which has been brought up before, however. How positive is everyone that there will be NO admission fees related to an area where a token may be hidden? What if it is still a public place, but there is an admission fee charged that is directly donated to another organization?

It has to be a public area, so I guess a city zoo would qualify, and most of them do charge a nominal admission that is used to maintain the place. However, if it is some organization other than the local government that is charging the admission, it hardly seems to fall under the category of public. Certainly places like Disney World are out of the question (though they do have lots of trees).

Jewels and Hoppperr,

This is what I was doing to come up with the phrases...
I typed the clue "There are no intentional red herrings posted in March not April1" into Word. I think that the letters in the phrase can somehow be rearranged to form a new phrase...so I began to take the letters from the phrase and form words that seemed to "fit" in with the book. As I used a letter, I would go up and delete it from the original phrase so I wouldn't use it again. The letters above the new phrases Jewel are the letters that were still left over from the original phrase. I just got to the point that I couldn't come up with a whole complete new phrase using all the letters so I thought I would throw it out to all of you. Maybe if we brainstorm together we can come up with a new clue that can be found within the clue MS posted. I'm going to play with the Rubik letters again today using some of the things others have posted such as "open sight" "rare trees" and "hidden". I know others have seen the word "hint" as well...so let me post this question to you...do you think the new phrase would start with "hint"? I just wonder if it might end up being worded similar to the first clue "Hint: Tackle Repositorys"? I also question whether we actually use all the letters of the new clue since the introduction to the clue on the website says "Here's your clue and its date!" Le me start another post for that topic as this one is getting too long. brb

Okay, as I was saying above...I also question whether we actually use all the letters of the new clue since the introduction to the clue on the website says "Here's your clue and its date!"
If we followed the format of how the clues appear on the ATT website a solution could be posted:
1. January 20th, 2005
Hint: Tackle Repositorys

2. April 1
There are no intentional red herrings posted in March not

or

2. posted in March not April 1
There are no intentional red herrings

or

since he used the th after 20 to make 20th; then April 1 could possibly have "st" after it--which would change the clue completely (meaning it wouldn't be 'there are no intentional red herrings" because you would have to take the "s" and "t" out of that phrase.

or
"Here is your clue and its date!" could also be part of the new clue as "hint" was in the first clue.

I would hope it would be as simple as the phrase "There are no intentional red herrings posted in March not April" but with all the possible "interpretations" Here is your clue and its date!...it may not be so simple.

Noxoc, i think you're right along with others. i also think another layer of this clue should be unraveled . ms has shown us more than once his clues are multi-layered. it seems you've spent alot of time on this new clue to show us there is more than meets the eye.

Noxoc - What a great idea!

Here is the clue: THERE ARE NO INTENTIONAL RED HERRINGS POSTED

And the date: MARCH, NOT APRIL 1.

I'll see if the "clue" works up to be anyhting.

I need help with pg 83. if anyone has worked on this illustration please help.

If you look under the word WHOLE in the poem the guy on the very right his nose is hanging over the inside picture in as an arrow. also all the eyes are pointing into the picture. I've tried following all the hints at pointing but am not seeing what i'm supposed to see. also in yellow by ana's right elbow is an arrow pointing down, and below the yellow rock arrow in black is another arrow pointing down. i'm getting several letters in this pic ,but nothing at where everything is pointing. the only thing i thought of was the base of the tree reminds me of a shape of a dog , pook? , don't know though can't make it seem believable, but could be something else. why why why did i come back to this page. if anyone has any help for me let me know. CAROL

OK, Nox, I get it now.

I definitely still believe this clue is multi-layered, just like the puzzles in the book. The are so many different phrases in these letters. I agree that "here is your clue and its date" probably figure in, as well as the word "hint". It's a little overwhelming at this point. I've taken a break for most of the day and plan to for the rest of the evening and then start fresh tomorrow.

Ok....who wants to really get confused???

Remember where it says "A code of numbers five to a side"?
Now think about the latest hint - a Rubik's cube puzzle....

...now stick with me here....

There was a 5x5x5 Rubik's cube made at one time that is
sometimes called the Professor's Cube.

Ok, I really don't think that this has ANYTHING to do with the price of
tea in China, but it was a nice break from repeatedly banging my head
against the wall!!!!!

Nitey nite!!

Hi- just joined - love this stuff. My last puzzle was Treasure in search of the golden horse. It was great fun.

Here's a thought on the second clue date. 313.jpg

starting with the 1 in the middle box = 1 squared = 1
9 sq in box = 3 squared = 27
9 sq in box = 3 squared = 27
2 rows

Just a layer of thought.

Carol:

You asked about page 83 and had several comments about eyes.? I've been working on the EYES angle for a while, but haven't come up with anyhting yet.? Here are a couple of notes, if anyone wants to work on this with me:

I am trying to put all of this together, but haven't yet so far:

1.? Part of poem on page 10 - "no eye can see"

2.? On page 21, I think we agree that there is an extra "E" in "TWELEVE" and a missing "Y" in "YOU".

3.? There's on eye in the tree on page 22 - on left about 2" up from bottom.

4.? I am convinced there is an extra "Y" between the P and the L in PLACES on page
? ? ?22.

5.? All of the eyes on pages 55 and 83 especially.

6.? We don't see either Ana's or Zac's eyes wide open anywhere.

7.? The words "eye" or 'eyes" appear 6 times in the story - pages 23, 32, 81, & 94.

The "the one that is missing you do not see" is widely believed to be Q.? EYE-Q = IQ?

Carol, I have been thinking about the arrows too. Here's what I came up with for the guy's nose on page 83. If you turn the book upside down the arrows pointing to what looks like a boot. If you look at Arkansas and Louisiana there in the shape of a boot. Not sure if it means anything but it might help. There's the arrow on page 80 and on page 44 the purple thistle by Pook looks like an arrow. Let me know if you find any others. Thanks, Gail.

Zuse, WOW. i was only loking for a letter or two and bam ! i think you have given us all alot to check into and would be glad to help.

GAINES, Thanks. i gave up on that pg awile ago but you and zuse have renewed my interest . when i'm done here i am going to study that page . thanks again. carol

TREASURETRAPPER, I'm going to look at pg. 83 right now maybe do some tracings . i'll let you know if i get anything new. on the other pages you mentioned what are you having trouble with ? let me know. in chap.1 i posted before and maybe you can look at it, pg. 16 at the bottom of the page where the part of the poem reads AND some think SANDS with the S belonging to SKY. look closely at the tree next to the letter D i believe it's either a 9 or a Y . let me know what you think . i also want to say to you is when i'm looking at the pics look for things that draw your eye to them . like the odd way ana is posed on pg. 77, who stands with their arm bent like that anyway, just odd stuff like that . then i try and trace those things to see what comes out of it. let me know if this has helped or if i can help you further . carol

Thanks!!Carol ;)

If Any1 else has any input then go ahead!

P.S. Call me Sara plz thanks!! ;D

Just something to think about.....Michael Stadther in this story based Pook off of his favorite dog that he owns Misty. Now it is not uncommon in story's to base people and events off of your real life. This leads me to think that if Pook is Misty than why wouldn't the tokens be hidden in places where Michael Stadther grew up.
-He was born in Mobile Alabama
-Moved with his mom to Louisville
-Went to college at Tulane University
-Became a software designer and moved to New York
-Currently lives in New York

So if something like Pook=Misty is true to the story than why cant places Michael Stadther has lived be where the tokens are? Let me know if you agree disagree or see any logic in this at all.

Pikeshunter, great idea. i think it's something we need to consider, but what if he already thought of this and avoided these places for that reason. maybe he might put one in mobile , but not close to where he lived because he knew maybe we could get that info. i never thought of that . he probably knows we are picking apart anything that may be connected to him though. carol

Sorry to post again , but wanted to keep this out of the last post so it didn't all run together . i was tracing pg. 83 just the inset pic .i decided to trace around all the lines and tree branches, but left ana out for now. i flipped it over to see what i got and here it is . i found the boot heel by the way thanks and some letters. this will be reversed so you know when you look at it . i want to say i think it's a map and if you agree maybe we need to do the same with the others. when i looked at it i saw a foot path in a forest or a nature trail. let me know what you all think. carol
