I went down to the beach to try to get used to hot rock sounds again for the season and was able to pick up this really thin seated dime 1891- It's razor thin but she is still pretty detailed! I plan to get out a lot more now!

Neat find, reminds me of a Merc I found eons ago in the surf that is also razor thin, but just like your seated the details are still there.

better than the seated I found, oh wait, I've never found one! congrats

Why do coins wear like that in the ocean? There is a reason for it I just can't remember.

Silver + Salt Water = Bad News.

Cool Find Bev!
Amazing how much detail can remain even when they are foil thin,

I'll take any Seated , thin or thick ! Great find
Glen

Thanks all- I was told that the coin could have been face down most of the time and the surf just kept working on the back. Steelheadwill mentioned the tides today and I think I'll go try my hand again!

I like your seated Steelheadwill!

I bet you plan to get out more... nice beach toast. Gotta love it!

Great find Bev!! It looks like it took alot of abuse with the salt!!
Good luck and hope to see more treasure.

Bev, I've found a lot of surface coins that have a good 'Down' side while the exposed side is gone,

Deeper stuff seems to come out better... HH :)

I love the AT Pro and using it with the Rattler one cup headphones is a good combo for me. I'll be able to get out more often now and have a few places I'd like to explore a bit more! I plan on making banner at some point this year!

You know I do a lot of river searching, and have found dimes and pennies that you can almost shave with. They too have all of the markings and dates. I think the water running over them cuts down the metals over time and just follows the paths of the ridges leaving a thin penny or thinny or thime.:laughing7:
