An Inherited Puzzle

If I truly believed there was buried treasure there then, yes, that would be an excuse. However, it just looks like a fun peak to climb, but not fun enough to make a dedicated 1700 mile drive.

When I used commute to El Paso I kept a second set of climbing gear in my apartment there, went to the Franklins to play on the rocks. I heard about a volcanic tube SW of Las Cruces you could climb down with gear, couldn't find it the last time I went out, then Covid hit and that shut down my visits. I gave up my apartment and hauled everything home (Oregon, now Washington).

Puff, if I have a new PI design to test next year I will likely want to take it to CA, AZ, and even NM. If that happens, I will definitely pack my climbing gear and let you know. Ironically, I used to test my detector designs at a volcano about 25 miles east of the Florida mtns, just off I-10.

Sounds good. I’ll be heading back north when I finish up here but I’m always game for a trip. I’ll pm my email, looking forward to it. 👍

Just wanted to add for anyone planning to check out this peak or others in the mountain range, please be aware of the wildlife. I came across this big guy and saw a few big cat prints as well. Just be aware. 👍

I’m not sure if this is Treasure related, Historical, or just my imagination getting the best of me, but thought I’d throw the puzzle out and see what the community comes up with.

I inherited some photos, along with accompanying notes and directions to their location, that have piqued my curiosity. They seem significant, and apparently were to the person who left them to me. So I thought it would be interesting to post them here for discussion.

Again, I’m not sure if they relate to Treasure or are just an interesting natural formation so ideas are pretty much open, you won’t hurt my feelings either way.

That said,

I think and for what it’s worth looks like rock formations in the Black Hills South Dakota areas. The diamond formation geologically speaking goes against the uplifting strata /lines in the surrounding areas. The bushes makes it appear as tho the area may be several hundred feet up in elevation and or fall like conditions. Certainly appears that the lines are carved in as man made or NA carving. Quite large as well. Repelled down from the face. Darn thing looks like a sand dollar formation. Certainly is not though. Finding that exact location you already may know. But I’d be curious to see what the center of that carving holds. Large enough certainly many others have seen it as well. Interesting all together. Jgas.

Welp, it’s not a burial. Back to square one.

Taking a break to regroup. Thanks all. 👍

CDS, I’ve been nothing but cordial towards you and your constant negativity towards others on this thread. That stops here.

In case no one else has told you, the main reason this section of the forum gets so little attention is not for lack of interest. It’s you and your behavior. Sandy1 has my sympathy.

Good day to you sir.

Well how nice of you! Sorry you got yer feathers ruffled, is that very nice?
Is that meant for a cheap shot insult only against me, or the whole Forum?, or just a see through smoke screen for the obvious...
Really No need for going this far, it really ruins the aura of the potential treasure mistique, don't you think?
You're the one that started this thread, which seemed to have... interesting possibilities, a catchy allure.
But somehow just didn't produce much... Speculations, insults, No new Pics from a Pro TH'er, HUH?.
Hmmm, Pretty sure ye should really know, though the views it sems are poised for Dramatic Static?
Likely more watchers than mite be really known. But people aren't so easily guised. It's OK for y'all
to challenge US, say stuff, call names, but cannot challenge you back? Nothing New, seems sadly old...
The evidence is plainly in Black & White, so IF any, the Readers can judge whatever. It's only obvious to see.
But seriously you're totally right, there's nothing else left to discuss. The insult doesn't really cover up truth, sorry!
SURELY EVEN BEGINNERS CAN SEE & TELL, WHEN SOMETHING'S JUST BEING PUT ON FOR SHOW. NO REAL EVIDENCE OF NO KIND...

If you haven't noticed, It's already way late for games. If yer really hunting a treasure, what people see here on TN,
the Premier online Treasure Hunting website, shouldn't be a confusing show of words, without proven actions.
It's so basic, to ernestly provide substantive exidence of your supposed treasure ventures, for the viewers
to see & be able to easily understand. Otherwise, you're obviously just entertaining, & playing games.
Much more beneficial for people seeking to learn, know how to seek treasures, if they get Truths...

While TNet has a fair number of serious treasure hunters, it has more than its share of make-believe treasure hunters. Who have solved the Beale ciphers. Who have complex geometrical solutions to Oak Island. Who have dowsed the locations of multiple KGC hoards. Who build locators that detect gold 10 miles away. Who photograph the auras of buried gold. And who follow carved rocks to huge treasure vaults. People who love to post a lot of words but, as you say, without proven actions. And who never seem to actually find anything. The trick is figuring out how to tell a treasure hunter from a Big Time Treasure Hunter, cause TNet's got 'em both by the boatload.

I don't know what Puff's mystery is all about, but at least he didn't make a bunch of outlandish claims about what the rocks were not. And he's willing to let a skeptic tag along should the opportunity arise. It all sounds pretty reasonable.

Thanks Carl, I appreciate it. My very first post on this thread:

“ I’m not sure if this is Treasure related, Historical, or just my imagination getting the best of me, but thought I’d throw the puzzle out and see what the community comes up with.“

How anyone would deduce from this statement that I’m a “Pro THr” I have no idea. I’ve stated more than once, elsewhere in the forum, that I’m not a treasure hunter, I’m a puzzle solver. I’ve made no assertions that this puzzle was anything other than… a puzzle. Never proclaimed to be “teaching” anything. The one and only time I offered a THEORY, that it COULD BE a NA burial, I made sure to admit I was wrong after following up. How anything I said or did was “misleading” is beyond me.

In hindsight, my biggest mistake was bringing my puzzle here to this section of the forum, unaware it is a Fiefdom. I’ve corrected my course and will direct future inquiries elsewhere.

My thanks to those offering constructive advice and opinions. And thanks again Carl, looking forward to meeting up with you in the future.

Onward.

Live and learn.

Thanks. On the bright side, I may not be a Pro THr, but at least I have enough common sense not to go quoting other people’s posts from their threads and pasting them into mine so I can pretend I’m having a conversation with someone. That would be downright embarrassing. :hello:

Best. Advice. Ever. :notworthy:

Second best….learn where the ignore button is. :headbang:

After much research and consideration I believe I have solved this puzzle/mystery. I’ve run these photos of the unusual markings on the cliff face through several search engines and have come to the conclusion that it’s the results of a lightning strike. The photos below are boulders that have been lightning struck, and they have the same pattern of radiating lines from a center cavity. Granted, it must’ve been one hell of a lightning bolt by the sheer size of the damage on the cliff face. But the peak makes a perfect lightning rod at over 7K elevation above the desert floor. And it would explain why my friend chose this particular place for their final request.

My friend was Native American. Many NA beliefs associate lightning-struck places with spiritual power. Some traditions view these spots as sacred, believing lightning is a powerful force of nature controlled by spiritual beings like the Thunderbird. These locations are seen as places of spiritual transformation. A spiritual treasure.

Now I understand why this place was chosen, and my Friend’s request has now been fulfilled.

I realize this is not your regular treasure tale, with Spanish Vaults or Templar Caches, but it is a treasure story regarding rocks and carvings. Albeit just natural ones, in this case, which had a spiritual meaning.

In the end I found my treasure in fulfilling my friend’s wish.

Thanks for reading.

That's really cool. At the peak of Mount Washington in Oregon there are rocks with numerous lightning hits but nothing that big.

I don’t believe it was that big to begin with. No telling how many thousands of years old it may be. After so many cycles of freeze & thaw, centuries of wind and weather, the cracks and crevices have slowly spread across the cliff face to create this cool formation. Mother Nature at her finest and a very special place.

I’m looking forward to going back.
