First Off - You want to learn everything there is to know about the code? Get out of the house and go to the mountains

I will not give you the answer to the question until you research it and out of the house and in the mountains.

You say your a know it all when it comes to prospecting?!

Ok know it all, go to the mountains and get me some pictures of rock faces and bare ground where mineral deposits are, and get some ore samples about the size of your fist.

Take a lot of photos of rock outcroppings, small buttes, look for caves.

You want to learn code? Outline everything you see in that photo, even if you have to enlarge it.

It is there, force yourself to do it and don't argue every little point... because people get tired of hearing rants.

If you refuse help or want to argue about it... you will meet my ignore button.

This is your last chance, if you hassle me one more time... I'm finished with you and could care less what you say after that, because you surely don't want to try and want the answer right this instant.

USGS files; how the heck do you think they got that info? They went out and explored.

Im at the beach/ocean in south NJ. No mountains here.

I changed my mind I don't want to learn your version of your code. Your numbers/letters (not symbols) are nowhere to be found on the net so they must be something that exists in your mind only.

Ignore me!

Thanks for finally doing as I ask!

John,

Thanks for what your doing! Very informative! Hope you keep it going.

^^^^what he said! Love the info shared here although I could do without some of the drama.

I dont know how everyone else decides to find a area. I guess you could use a computer that wont work 100 plus degree heat. As I do carry a tablet in my insulated pack with my water and grub. I usually have to find shelter to use it for research on site. I love my garmin and it is just a distraction to what I should be doing. GE is ok for routes into a area, but I seldom use it for a site. I have been missing stuff not using it. The info here is in layers like a onion. You have to get one part of the puzzle to get the next. There is no Paradoila involved. It is math, geology, geometry, astronomy, and other things all in one. What I have learned so far is to take what is in front of you, say a grouping of sign, and use them to draw a map. Now for the patches of flat dirt, what I see is a possible location for ore. Who care if it rains or the wind blows, its just a area to search for ore. I have only ever found ore and no bars or ingots. I will test johns theory's out very soon. I once even listened to Rangler till I realized his way did not work. You folks who are set in your ways I appluad you. How many caches do I need to find to fund my hunts?

Now john and I have conspired and we have come to the same conclusions. I used my way and he used his. He is bating 100 on what I have found. There are ways of coming to the same conclusion. I guess you dig a 3' foot trench in a straight line till you found something. But getting out and looking, and using the muscle between your ears is whole lot more satisfying with me.

I have come use a Kenworthy approach at the beginning of a hunt. Im sure there is some kvm and others who I havent read on yet I probably copy. John has put another way of looking for actual gold out there. A new way of looking at the sign. It sure makes sense to me.

So take a camera, (and water), have fun, and if your smart enough, get some gold.

Its not what I see, but what I dont see that keeps my attention. There is a lot of folks not on this thread that could help. They are very quiet. Do you want to know why they are quiet? Not because john is right. Its a rare thing when someone shares what he knows to be true.

John I have corrected my misstatement. It doesn't change in your quote. But I meant that you are right, and thats why folks dont comment.

Okay, so I get the feeling John really knows his stuff and I appreciate his thread here, but can anybody with broader experience let me know how John's claims align with research and experience throughout Texas? There's a great swath of the state that is desert like, and the Spanish/Jesuits were all over, some with better local relationships than others. I'm just curious if anybody can vouch that what John puts forward for his area may be applicable closer to where I work (other than the geological techniques that can be learned from books with pictures in them).

I see the shadow face but I don't believe someone put it there....It's like looking at the clouds, you can see all kinds of shapes. T any other angle it would be gone so how are you supposed to find it again? unless your standing in the exact same spot?

I find it all the time, it is on my 40 acre mining claim... it is something I thought I would share... I see your not up to speed with spanish mining traditions, the shadow face was put there intentionally.
your right, I'm not up to speed with them Spaniards. I'm sure you could walk right up to it. I'm talkin about some one else supposedly filling the trail, that's never been there. They would have to stand in that same spot. When you mark a trail, only you can find the marks, whatever they are. Unless they are really obvious.
I can see all kinds of things. Just to the left is an eagle head. See the eye and the beak? He's got his mouth open.

I see a terrible exposed photo. John how about getting the photos in focus? Sorry but having been a photographer covering off-road racing I am critical of the 1/3 rule, focus, lighting etc. Maybe this is done on purpose, but if you’re trying to teach your readers it would be important they can see the images clearly. I know when I am out and about I see the desert clearly...

I will quit posting photo's from now on, due to the extreme tremors I have. I did my best
John get a tripod, you can get a good one..cheap.
I'am sure that will do the trick. If not I will bet you your camera has a timer. Set it...it will take the pic by itself.

Ok since we can't tell what the picture is because it's blurry. Can you tell us what we're looking at.

John, next time you're shooting pics free-hand, think of the
shutter button like it was the trigger on your AR. Take a deep
breath, let it half-way out and then squeeze.

You can also get a low cost tripod and then use the timer on
the camera. Set up the pic, set the timer and step away from it.
Good pics every time.

No doubt the Parkinsons gives you some tremors, but that's
no reason to stop taking pics! I have very little balance, so trying
to stand still for a pic is difficult, and sometimes I have to take
several to get one good one.

Did the best I could with this one, but there's only so much
that processing can do.

if John was shaking so hard, why are the cacti in the foreground in focus? Nobody can see that pic so why ask the question? Makes no sense to me.

The cactus is not in focus, but the issue isn't so much focus as movement of
the lens as the shot was being taken.

Why ask "what" question?

Why?
Because digital cams, if on auto focus sometimes will not focus on the subject matter! they focus on the wrong damn object!
Digital cams can piss a person off!.....
DSLR with manual settings.
filters.
tripod.
DSLR wins

whats in a picture that you can't see. That question.
