anyone ever had their dimes counted as pennies at td bank penny arcade. almost every time i dump dimes, it seems to happen. last time it counted 43 of them as pennies. i explained all i had were dimes and no pennies. they are always quick to say it must have been left over from the last user. every time i go now, i dump just a couple rolls just to be sure machine is clear. then begin the dump. this last time they told me the same thing. i expllained the first one should have cleared machine. i asked them to check the penny bag for dimes. he found 67 in there. he gave them all to me for the inconvenience. just wondering if anyone else experienced same thing. now i re roll all dimes. they are usually very accurate for all other denomination. thanks jon

Your right it does that !!

Dawg yell at the tellers until they give you what you deserve

I've never really experienced dimes being counted as pennies, but I've certainly had my share of "wrong denomination" coins in bags, especially with nickels, occasionally bent pennies will go through as nickels and into the nickel bag. I've found a dime or two in a penny bag but never any huge amount. I guess it really depends on the machine and how often it is serviced/checked.

i guess it woulnt be bad if i had pennies counted as nickels. i guess u win some and u lose some. just keep on rollin'

Has happened to me many times. I inform the tellers, they later check the cent bag for dimes, and credit my account. Every time.

This happened to me once. However it was not at a TD. The machine I used did not have bags. Instead it had a large bin for all the coins. Unfortunately there was no way for them to check. Lost out on $100. The advantage with TD is that a teller can check the penny bags for dimes. Since then I put my dimes in ziploc bags of $50 and dump to make sure that the machine is counting correctly.

There's a bank by me that has a really inaccurate machine- lost over 2 dollars in dimes due to miscounting. I brought it up and they told me it was from the user before. Then there's the logic of "I know how many dimes are in there, and it matches, and i'm sure the user before me would like to know why they didn't get all their coins if that's really the case, which it's not", but that was just met with a blank stare.

What I do now is just dump all my pennies there- I can't LOSE any money that way!

Just find a different dump bank for dimes.

It's not uncommon. I will dump dimes by them selves. I will usually dump nickels first then Pull my ticket and then dump dimes. When there is an error I don't have to worry them saying its left over. Especially when I just dumped $200 in nickels. There would not be any pennies in there when I am done. This works every time. No questions asked.

The go-to guy for the coin machine at one of my dump banks told me that the biggest problem with dimes and cents is that they try to go through 2 at a time, not that they count as wrong denom. It is worse for dimes, but happens with cents as well.

I like the idea of dumping "bins" of $50-$100 each. I did that for quite a while with my dimes until I gained confidence in the counters I was using. I would give the teller a tote of small red bins and say "you can run them all and get one total, but make sure that each one counts $100." I never had a problem at any of my dime dump locations and so I stopped doing it that way.

I am always being shorted with penny arcade with dimes counted as pennies, but don't make a big deal over a few dollars, but there were 2 major miscounts i should add that happened to me:

$206.70 shortage on a dime box, dimes counted as pennies. (took 3 weeks for a refund after bag was sent out for recount)
$131.60 shortage(2 months ago), took 3 weeks again for a full refund.
