Found my first 1877 Indian Head!

[lostlake88]

It took a couple hundred Indian Heads to finally find the one I have been hopeing for. I haven't posted in a while because I took an extended break from metal detecting. Decided to go out today and take advantage of the rain soaked soil. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw those two seven's. I was using my 8" coil and it was about 6-7" deep.

Awesome way to kick start your metal detecting again. CONGRATS.

Wow! Another one of those coins has been found this year? That must be about 5 of them. It's no wonder they are rare, they were all lost! Good job bringing that baby back to the living.

Congrats!

Thanks for showing! For those who dont know, 1877 is the rarest of the Indian Head Cents. In this condition the retail value is almost $1,000.
So cool

Wow, congrats!!

Be careful with throwing out retail prices on dug coins - especially copper. Usually a quick search through ebay completed listings will get you a reasonable value of a coin.

congrats on that amazing coin!!

If you find that on your first hunt, imagine what else is there. Maybe theres a 1913 V Nickel in there too

Yippee!!!!

Nice Job Brett.
I need to buy a detector again. I wish I did not have to sell my E-Trac when I did. Oh well I will get a new one.
Brett I showed my girlfriend Lynne your picture on my phone and told her how much the coin was worth and she told
me I need to get another one. I will sometime, probably next year.
That was really a great find!

Congrats on a truly Banner find. Well done!

Between 3 of us, we've only dug one IH this whole year down here, so little hope of finding one of those for us.

Best Wishes,

Buck

Great find. Ihave had alot of lack last two weeks with Indian Heads. I will have to post them as well. Yours is ALOT better than my 1882 IH. It took me forever to get a date off of it.
