OK SO UP UNTIL ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I HAD ALMOST NO INTEREST IN treasure hunting even though I've loved history since i was a kid. i was walking home from work, and i like to cut Through the woods so i can smoke, and because it's quicker. Here's where i lost my favorite ring cost me about 2g's, it was dark so i had no chance of finding it so i just memorized where it fell of and came back the next day. so i was looking the next day but couldn't find it, i decided it must have fallen in this small hole that was around where i was searching, so i go home and get a shovel and dig up the hole it goes on for a bout a foot then there is my ring sitting on top of a metal box. at first i was a bit scared cause theres a lot of power lines around my area, but it looked too old so i take it out with my ring an here is what was inside.
anyone have any idea what this stuff is? will post the rest of the pictures later

ALSO; now I'm kinda hyped to find stuff any legends/treasures/ stories about NYC or the Bronx/Yonkers/westchester??? and what a good Detector for a beginner

I think you might be a kid, that is why you walk through the woods to smoke. Maybe that isnt the ring, or maybe the price a little exaggerated, but either way, hopefully, we will get to see a picture of the box. :) Please dont leave us hangin.

An Ace250 is a good beginner MD.

Is that a man's ring? Did you go back and get the box? We would appreciate more info. Thanks.

all looks beautiful.

Hope it wasn't one of those GEO-cache hunting things. Those guys get salty when someone takes their box.

Most of the people who geocache are pretty dang cheap they leave cheap items (Trickets). Once in awhile they might have good stuff in there left by a trusting person but for the most part these people just like geocaching for the hunt, health ,scenery.

I'd like to see that box too. Please give us an update.

This don"t seem to add up. Why would a grown man walk through the woods at night so he could smoke? It seems like it would be hard to finf the exact spot later since it was dark when he lost the ring. It also seems odd that a ring would come off a finger if you were just walking along. Also the ring looks like a womans ring to me. I may be wrong about this, but it just don"t sound right. Also you aked him about the box and he disapears. I hope I"m wrong. Sonny

;D Kudos to you Jeff of PA ;D

I agree with you on this. . I haven't been here on this forum for very long, nor do I post too often, mostly due to I do not yet have metal detector so my "treasures" are different. . but I so enjoy coming on & seeing what people have found or questions they have about items. . I learn so so very much & enjoy that!

Honestly I was a bit quizzical when I read over the post at first. . the writing I found. .interesting. . but I thought. . shoot, sometimes my finger & mind don't match up so I am quite sure I write. . strangely. . more often then not!

I didn't question how the items were found. . stranger things have happened. . & how cool would it be to stumble across such a find! But I also thought maybe. .maybe these items were actually items of a relative of the poster & they were a bit nervous or did not know how to post questions. . either way I am still very curious about the items & hope the individual comes back with many more pictures & any info possible. . especially if the box is real!! Would love to see & read more about that!!

I get the jist on how some people feel this is a "scam" & understand their caution. . but at the same time :'(. . but then again I am still a newbie myself. . a quiet newbie

Bogart :D

* sigh * I'm sorry. :-[

Charlie Garrett said "A good treasure hunter needs a good imagination."

Without input ours just run wild.

Come back BigBen19, we are on pins and needles waiting for the rest of the story.

At least he's not claiming the eagle fell off the Arc of the Covenent or Cleopatra's barge. :D

The frist pic on the far side of the billfold next to the ring neat looking stone.
In the ring pic there is something stamped inside the band but can't read.
As for needing to be out of sight for a smoke and being a adult all depends on what your smoking ::)

BigBen, if this story is false, at least please tell us so. It's not nice to tease treasure hunters. I find the part of your story about a few small items inside a huge and heavy box a bit hard to accept, but stranger things have been proven true. All you have to do is take a photo of the box in situ (in the place - as found) and tell us a few more details. Then we'll be drooling all over our keyboards. As you leave us hanging, though, you are losing some credibility. Please come back and finish the story - whatever the finish may be. Thank you.

It's maybe a souvenir box from a murderer. They are said to like to take things from their victims' houses so they can relive the horrid events for the thrill they get from it. The strangely diverse variety and age of the items makes me think they are like trinkets/souvenirs from a criminal's dastardly deeds.
Oh man, if that's the case, I hope he didn't encounter the owner of the box on his way back to snap a few shots.
