This guy is a rancher and 80 something I guess he is very um how do I put it old school.
Been there!

I took thier money though. For a while anyways.
A friend working one same farm as I took offense to the old man ragging on him and started raggin back.
It was entertaining watching the two of them get all riled up with the old man waving his cane around offering to show my friend what he was made of....While trying to dismount the tractor he used to follow us around.

Last (3rd) cut of hay we'd ride the stack back to the barn with the old man driving. We'd grab walnuts while passing under the trees and hammer road signs as the tractor was even with them to get the old mans attention.
He either didn't hear them , or ignored them. He could hear though. l.o.l..
More likely didn't want to get hit with a walnut or a barrage of them.

Used to lay irrigation pipe for a polo field on an old farm. Maybe took part in a couple hayings. Been awhile.
Gorgeous setting. And farmhouse well restored including hardwood plank flooring added.
An original small barn for tack for the owners polo hobby.
Stainless hot tub on second level overlooking the river.
Nice.

Great set up and employer.

I don't know what he is all I know is his name is Don Gatz
Gatz of Atwater?

I'm not saying this is the same guy. But can see he'd be cranky if he was.

60 years of horse trading?
2011 he got pinched.
And the group animal angels has been up his backside ever since.

I'd take his money. For a while anyways.

There usually is!

Buying stock in rough condition , there's no magic wand to make them look prime very quick.
And bad hooves take time to work into something better too.
(I've gone round over hooves enough. But one gal who had been bragging on her horse care I kicked in the seat of the pants after checking her mounts hooves came back weeks later to show me the improvement..) And you /anyone wouldn't have noticed a problem by looking from any distance. Yet.

At the livestock auction we would check what dad called the "wiener pen".
Sick , injured and dying cattle he said were going to become hotdogs.
I recall one being dragged into it while us kids were frogging around above out of reach of cattle being run in through isles....

Milk cows. Old and played out or worse , "downers" that broke a leg or something Dad would get meat from.
Stink up the kitchen kind of stuff.
Anything of value /fat ect. went into the milk.
One keeled over in a holding pen at milking time at a poor run farm I worked.
A co-worker asked the manager what he wanted him to do about it.
"Milk her!" was the answer. We didn't think it was very funny.

The story with the animals was people would abandon animals on his property and he took in one's people neglected to get them healthy again. He got screwed with that. The guy has bad qualities bit he does have good sides. I don't let my dislikes of someone make me have to think everything is bad and attack them on everything in that case there was more to it and I'm willing to put that out there

Hot and sticky.
Actually do you want to hear how hot?
I broke down, grabbed the ✂️ and cut the insulated liner out of my 👖.
Now that's hot folks.

Now can't damn the old for being set in their ways.
If the help don't care for the man the gate is there.
Not here to be liked, I am here to get it done.
Though being an arsehole about deserves a tad of finger wagging and the quit.
63 guys I went through in 13 yrs.
Had the 4 main guys, and they shared the load.
If they said anything about a guy not pulling the weight. Good 👋

Hey pepper... wasnt it you that found some pot plants growing one year out there ?

What ever happened with that ?
It's legal to grow up here ARC. 4 plants for every fire # (Address) if you pay the taxes.
It was on one of my permissions, very religious family. There's crosses up in the forest, little angels, lots of things.
Not the average type religion but a Saint of something. (Not up on my religions)
So I guess it's not off the table to enjoy a little of natures weed.
I think there was a 12 or more in the one location.
Though when out detecting I see flower pots-or sacks in the travels.
Many farmers sow their crops and run into plants hidden.
One old fellow, grows, good at it too.
The plants are trees almost. 8ft across and 12 ft high. Yields of 5+ lbs of bud.
