Mornin all.
You can buy stills in the US. It’s federally illegal to distill alcohol without a permit, either to drink or for fuel. But you can get a permit if you’re so inclined. Check state laws, too — some states are more permissive about it than others.
(Edit: it’s the distillation that’s illegal without a permit. You can make beer and wine all day long, you just can’t distill without a permit.)
