Well the driveway itself is good, but of course when it's all under snow, you can't really see it, so people tend to just drive where they think the road is, so there may be some mushy stuff where they thought the driveway was.

Banana belt temps !!!!
The portion of the Oregon Coast region south of Port Orford is known as "Oregon's Banana Belt" because of its mild climate in relation to the rest of the coast. The largest communities in this region are Brookings-Harbor and Gold Beach.

I looked for and found.... the oldest electrician I could, he said they look like outdoor lights and from the 30's or before. He stated he has never seen lights like that. That's either good or bad as I'm selling them.

There was also a 1930's or before

Fired up my Swedish desert mule and went exploring in the Mojave Desert today, hoping to find somewhere new to detect. Unfortunately, all I found was a bunch of low budget homesteads, deserted several years ago.
The coolest thing I discovered was the very first pinion pine tree I have seen this far south, and it was a big one! (last picture)

We had a driveway that was crap when we lived in the house of horrors in Dunolly.
When it rained a lot, I was driving down it for about 50 meters through mud and slush. I'd even get empty animal feed bags and fill them with old gold areas puddlers gravels and bring them home to fill the worst spots. I thought that was good and a thing bettering the place.
The freak cult owners would say "why did you put gravel on the driveway? As if id done something wrong. I had to suck it up whilst we were there and say things to appease the #@$**' @##_&. Behind it all I felt like putting my fist through his head.
To this day I will actually drive out of my way to not go through that town if im going somewhere that its in the way. To avoid the temptation. 😬
Im not sure now id just drive by him.

Cool photos MX. Hopefully a new discovery to be found on your next trip. So I have a question... Having visited the deserts of the west very little, your landscape and vegetation is definitely more harsh than ours in certain ways. With that said and seeing that large pinion pine, it made me think about an old story of Pirate tales I once read. It's been said, some pirates would find the oldest and tallest oaks they could spot from sea to mark a hiding spot for treasure, (many here don't know this). So would something like an old pinion tree have been a significant landmark by chance? Or more of something outlasting and stable like a boulder or mountain?

They were in a cult mate. I had the inclination earlier when I worked there, but we were between a rock and a hard wall at the time getting the place during covid madness. Dunolly the famous Gold town, and I worked there for 20 or so yrs travelling to it from Maryborough, is small but always was and still is a stuffed in the head cult town.
I won't go into too much details, but it was for many years an X prisoner pedo relocation place. It is just coincidentally also the heart of the Golden Triangle nugget wise and how I ended up with a job there. I didn't make too many friends there. S*"t town. There was a well known US gold buyer that came there often during the initial Minelab SD PI goldrush, Rattlesnake was his name. When I first worked there I met him to sell some gold. He said after he knew I was new there "don't you ever trust anyone here. I've been coming here for yrs and haven't met anyone I can say I trust. I wish like back home in the US I could carry "
He was referring to carrying a gun in Dunolly. He said first trip, 70s 80s ?, that he brought one and it was taken and held at border force. But he actually said "of all the places I have been to Dunolly is the worst I've ever set foot in".
Myself id agree.
When we were renting there, the owners sent a painter to do the outside weatherboard walls. Few weeks later someone in the street I had only waved to told me "that painter his name is .......... and..."

Had to look up the Aussie slang, and it was what I figured it would be. Sick
people, no doubt, and there's a couple in my area that are well known. They're
destroyers of lives, and if the "eternal law of retribution" holds true, there is
a fate worse than death awaiting them.

Mornin' folks....actually NOT raining, and about 48F out. Nice evening
for this time of year, and most definitely better than the snowy, cold
East Coast.

Wife is staying at our daughters place this week. It amazes me that her attitude
is still so strong considering what she has to endure on a daily basis. Cancer first
started in her colon, so they removed all that and put in a colostomy bag for
her. Then, it showed up in her stomach and also attacked her kidneys, so now
she has an external drain for each kidney, and just yesterday they had to put in
a drain for her bile duct between her liver and (something?) because another
tumor was blocking the flow of bile.

She's 40, and has tolerated this shit for what should have been the best years of
her life, and there's no quit in her. The human body is an amazing piece of kit, but
when it screws up it sure makes a mess of things.

Those sending prayers, good thoughts and karma are much appreciated. I'm no
longer a religious person, but I do believe there is a universal, spiritual strength
shared among all humanity. Don't have to understand it..I just know that it is.

Yes. Recently a prisoner in one of our jails in Queensland fronted court for killing one in jail where he was.
He had done it before.
When questioned by the judge he replied along these lines after the judge asked why he didn't want legal representation.
"Yes your honour I am guilty of this. No I don't need anyone, I represent myself.
He did things to children so I killed him"
Bravo I say. 👍

Wow mate. Im really sorry to hear that. There was a lady in the recovery room I was in a few weeks ago with a list like that. She had one thing done and they found about three other cancer sites. I felt numb as I heard them tell her.
All my thoughts are with your family mate.

Yeah I think its a repurposed old candle or oil one, turned into electric at a later date. OV said the fitting was smaller than usual. Im thinking it was for those Edison small screw in candle globes. Just an idea that crossed my mind. There appears in the fitting some newer bits and pieces along with some older.

This is common "style" as far as the ACM.
