There is a local dairy that has a few of those beasts. Not much fencing they must be happy !!

Blacksmithing isn't always iron, they love to ping away on copper as well.
We have a blacksmithing event at a old mill every year.
They make copper vessels, light shades even.
It's just another artistic creation.
Worth a good buck to the person that sees the cool factor.

I hope everything goes great ! I have diabetic retinopathy so I have been to the eye surgery store. They have amazing techniques these days.

2 were the mrs (gutted out works) they quit working. The leather strap one I bought in 2005/6. The Hamilton I trade $350 value with my brother-in-law I can't remember what but we both made out like bandits as I payed a few bucks for a ? and he picked the watch up for $25.
My sister blasted him for screwing me-but it was a trade.
The one in the case I traded 31 yrs ago for a bad debt-the seller offered me a 1948 Caddy or the watch.
I had sold him a lot of tools and he shipped them to the Philippines to open a tool rental business. I said we would settle up once it got up and running.
He flew back to the home country-yup the relatives sold all the tools instead of opening a store.
I had less than 2
$2K invested

No pimping involved just a lot of holding and waiting.

I would imagine that they were all over that area at one time, until gold was discovered there. Anything that would burn was used up quickly. I read a passage in a book that said even the greasewood (creasote) bushes that are so plentiful, were utilized until the desert was as barren as the surface of the moon as far as you could see.

That happened on all our goldfields too. They cut down everything. There are hardly any old growth forests left in any of the Victorian goldfields. Just about all are regrowth from the early 1900s.
These are paintings done at the time recording the fields of Castlemaine and Chewton. There are trees there now but probably only half the size the original forests were. Those areas would once have been completely covered in eucalypt forest.

Do ever have people say they're going to do something and they never do?

I'm dealing with a power company that did some damage to our property in 2024.
They want to finish this project.
But they have to fix the broken promises and mend the fences.
I spoke to the regulatory department that issued the license for the power company.

Oh every word is recorded and I was promised to get an email response from them.
Nothing-called again-yes ASAP- Still nothing.
I'm thinking they're talking with the company to get their ducks in a row for the prissy 🌶 🫑.
They haven't seen the real me when I get really peeved.
It seems that folks just like to ignore the person hoping they get tired and they go away.
But they get all panties knotted up if that person gets a tad angry 😡.

Its exactly what they do, make you wait till you give up. Had dealings like that before. A guy who worked for a large company spilled the beans on an expose program saying that they do it on purpose and train their workers to do it. Some places purposely have phones that go straight to call waiting with purposely annoying hold music so people give up and hang up. Say you waited half an hr, it could have been answered in just a few minutes or instantly. Some use music that sounds depressing on purpose.
One of our Govt places uses music that sounds worse than 1970s arcade games, exact same annoying cheap sounds. People who worked there said its done on purpose so people get annoyed and hang up. Typical wait time with them is 1 hr. Sometimes after 50 minutes it automatically hangs up after you waited all that time. Again to cause frustration so you don't bother calling back.
Very dishonest and for anyone with serious problems can send them over the edge.
