Spent yesterday rebuilding the carbs on this 1984 Honda Nighthawk I picked up cheap last week.

Got it from the widow of the original owner. It sat several years since his death.
Never garaged...always kept in the kitchen! 😳
Only 9k miles on the clock.

It was a booger getting these out!

But worse getting them back in!
Anyway, it runs perfect now.

Okay, off to the lake again!

Nice !! I had a Nighthawk 650, shaft drive. It was a great bike until the engine froze, went to a motorcycle junkyard and the Nighthawk 650's they had... frozen engines !! Your bike looks new !!

Mornin all.

A foggy one.
Dogs let me rest a few extra minutes it was/is so dark still.

4 plus mice rode with the outboard motor out of the woods into the pole barn. One might have survived. Though well lubricated with spray lube.
Pulled flywheel and cleaned a lot of mess.
Cooling fins were clogged solid. Power-washed them after grubbing them out.
Most of a can of carb cleaner on non carb areas so far.
The points await inspection next.
Tecumseh carburetor. Given the varnish encountered so far ; a China carb around 20 dollars is going to be a likely consideration.

Yep, that's what I use. Mine are 50 years old, but still work great.
This Nighthawk purrs like a kitten, got lucky on this one.

I've set 4 traps in the shop, 3 in the garage, 2 in the Tundra (still stinks like a dead mouse), 1 in the dump trailer hydraulic box, 1 in the side by side.
Still need another in the Honda, Mazda, and in the dump truck.
I haven't looked in the cab of the Ford 5000, scared to even see. 🤣

Man O man, that brings me back. A buddy and I had a pair of these back in the late 80's. Same color and all. Yours looks to be in awesome condition
