We have a new one like that...they still make the beam saw, with a true 4 inch depth of cut. It's a great addition to our shop, and is helpful in breaking down slabs.

We have a new one like that...they still make the beam saw, with a true 4 inch depth of cut. It's a great addition to our shop, and is helpful in breaking down slabs.

This one is a 415mm or a 16.338" blade.
Hitting cutting depths of 6 ¼ inches at 90 degrees and 4 3/16 at 45 degrees, it can be put to use on big timbers.

been slabbing west indies mahogany, and wild tamarind for awhile now. Building a massive 3 slab conference table now. Had to find and use a 16 foot mahogany trunk !! Gonna be awhile....making a solar kiln for it so I can make this piece within 2 years. Been working on a Sotheby's art gallery piece with my partner for the last 4 months. Still cutting joints for assembly and far from the finish step still. Taking a tree to a piece of traditional furniture is time consuming but very satisfying.

I’ve cut dozens of walnut slabs. All were cut down further for gunstocks. I have a load of walnut slabs and cants on my trailer now to take to stock maker.

I’ll take these two along and have him turn them and make semi finished stocks for me. The trailer load will be sold to him.

I still have the pic of your sled you posted a while back. I want to make one eventually and finish a whole slab into a table top. I get so much more for gunstocks it’s hard to not cut them up!

If you make a sled make the deck out of clear lexan.....its a challenge to see my work with the current sled. A clear deck would have been better !!

Typical slab transformation. I like making traditional furniture, but have been thrust into the live edge game. The community knows me for live edge stuff, so I can't say no when asked to make another live edge piece.
