If you blur your eyes (pg 76 tree branches) there's definitely a face on the left side, but not sure what that would have to do with anything important.
PATCHY, i was just looking at the dandelions on pg 77. i started tracing them and thought that this could be a pig pen cipher . because of the tops of the dandelion look like dots. it reminded me of the pigpen ciphers. what do you think? carol
I've been looking through the companion book for a couple of weeks now. I really am confused as to what MS's intentions were with some of the illusions. I'd like to think that a lot of the poem lines are done in the illusions he points out, but now I am not sure. The two "freaky fairy" pictures really have me baffled. I feel like there is something in them that we are not seeing simply because we are failing to look at them in the correct manner.
There is a common thread in this book somewhere that will tie together a LOT of what we have found. Now the goal is to find that thread and pull it as hard as we can. I went through the book again tonight, and didn't find much to report. I also finally read the legalese in the back of the book, and have to say it disappointed me. He says he will not reveal the finders until after the end date, but the website is rigged to announce the redemption of a token.
I guess I am just wondering whether he wants this to be a true phenomenon. Announcing that a token has been found has little newsworthiness unless there is a face to be put on it. He does have some verbage about marketing, but I see little point of showing off the finders after the hunt is over if you want to generate buzz around the whole thing. That's just my PR degree talking though!
I am sorry for posting so much yesterday.? But I do think there are words, I think they are outlined by the balck dots in the tree.? I think it says hint?? Maybe?? I am really confused! ? I am taking a 5 1/2 hour car ride to a fair (today) so I will look into this page.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, I just wanted to throw a question out maybe it's been posted but i don't remember seeing it at all. are we taking the u.s. as the great forest? it is what i always thought since i turned the first page in this book. i'm thinking that maybe zac's walk through it in the first chapter was a clue and that when he looked down on the great forest he was maybe in canada looking down at the u.s. and maybe looking down at MN. for some reason i keep thinking that is the case . there has been talk about one being in MN. .that may be the reason i think that . let me know what you all think, carol
When I was reading through some of the rules of the hunt, I started to realize that MS was not entirely clear as to certain aspects of this search.
This whole special tools and special knowlege deal is all hooey in my opinion. ?Codebreaking and morse code are not high on the list of common skills of a majority of people in the country, and they aren't exactly training kids in school with these skills either.
I'm not calling MS a liar, but I think he is being painfully ambiguous when it comes to what we really need for this hunt.
hoppperr, you're very welcome. i hope you're referring to my great forest idea as the u.s.. maybe it's as simple as figuring out at what point zac is at when the book starts then follow him along. your idea of the pages being one big map is what we need to do. my book is tore up so maybe after stripping wallpaper today i'll spread them out . i bought a new one yesterday and one for the neighbors little girl for her birthday. maybe in a month she won't think it a nice gift ha ha.
PANCHO, I agree with you . i think there's alot of foggy areas in all this. there is a web site for boyscouts that's dedicated to codes . there are ciphers, morse codes , etc. on it . i remember learning in girl scouts about simple codes . i don't know if it matters how we find the clues or what we use , only that they are found.
Carol, what did that poor little girl do to you? I am an adult and I'm gonna need some intensive therapy after this treasure hunt is over! That little girl may be scarred for life! She will never be able to read a fairy tale again without searching the illustrations for hidden pictures and messages! Every word she reads from now on will be a potential Anagram! What have you done Carol? LOL
OMNI, I have no idea. your right though. i spoke with her dad this morning and he said she really liked it but his wife really couldn't put the book down. i think he'll be the one to boost me from the block. actually she loves reading and really enjoys mysteries so i thought i'd get it for her . no alterior motives here though, but i did give up my 3-d glasses to her . just in case.
WELL i decided to let the kids outside today and remove wallpaper tomorrow. it finally is starting to turn nice and tomorrow will be raining. i decided to clean my treasure trove pile up while they are napping and i came across these anagrams.
creatures= acres true , art rescue , a rest cure
other living things= eights living north , evil rights nothing.
Carol, not sure if I am thinking in the same line with you, but you got me to thinking about the use of metaphor in the book. I can't think about it right off the top of my head, but maybe there is something to hidden meanings of certain aspects of the book.
Of course, I have to curse you for getting my head wrapped up in another possible layer of this whole thing!!!!
PANCHO, I'm sorry. that's how i feel when i read all the posts on 5x5 boxes and all the mathmatical stuff. i wanna just pull my hair out. cause i can't understand any of it . sorry i only work with what i know and at this point it's finding bugs. i know i've put alot of posts on here , but am on vacation for a few. after i post i think of something else. i am curious as to what i posted that threw you off. i am also glad i got your attention. let me know, carol
