Does this matter to anyone anymore?

I'd buy my detector from Iran or North Korea if it would find me more! It's turning into a world where big players make big deals and don't care so if there's a little slice left, make that a crumb, I'll take it if it makes my life better.... because the big players will gladly sweep that crumb away from me.

Well big business controls the policy makers , there needs to be laws to protect the american workers and their jobs, but as we all know its all about the money.

Show me the money!!

I started my post before yours went on, but am basically saying the same thing.... well the end anyway.

It may make your life better.....but if everyone feels the way you do.....our children and childrens children may really suffer from this. It is all leading to the american dollar not being worth the paper its printed on and the vanishing of jobs in the good 'ol USA....and you should have a good time with customer service on getting that Korean detector fixed if it ever breaks!

To answer your question "does it matter to any one anymore" .. I really don;t think most care were there product is made any more … If they like it they buy it no matter were it was made .. They could care less about jobs in the USA as long as they have a job.. That means they just care about themselves ...

You are correct... otherwise Wal-Mart would go under, along with the other big box stores. People would rather buy one toaster a year for $10 every year for 5 years than buy one good toaster for $40.

Look at Harbor Freight.... some of the worst products China can produce... yet~

It does matter to me.

I also go to the local coffee shops and restaurants. I very rarely go to chain stores or restaurants. Sometimes I have to, but It's only rarely.

They made be "assembled in America", but the majority of the electronics used in them are imported...

what matters to me is Price and the ability of it to do what I want.

I learned a long time ago where it was made
(or even where it's sold) does not necessarily mean it's the best for me.

like it or not, not all workers care about their companies product either.
I admit, Back when I was a teen, what mattered to me was
my pay check. at about $3.25 an hour, I was happy to work 16 hour shifts
4 hour early, + 8 + 4 hour over.

trust me the product I was putting out was going to factory seconds if they were lucky :laughing7: did I care ? no.
I'm sure I was not the only one there for a check .

sometimes foreign workers have more pride/

sometimes not.

as I said I learned a long time ago where it was made
(or even where it's sold) does not necessarily mean it's the best for me.

Well i have to say Minelab makes one good detector ….. I still say the deepest detector they make is the Excalibur I know not many use them inland but they are killers when used for inland hunting………And i do have to agree with what a few others here have said …. No matter what detector you use there are parts in it from other countries ….. And Minelab does have a service center here in the USA so it does give some jobs here………….. And i would say the makers of USA detectors .. If you went to there factories you would probably find some illegal's working in those factories or ones that are not US citizen's...

As for the American Worker , to explain it further, we have around 350 million in the USA , thats so many workers, creates a natural supply and demand of the american worker. If you have a certain skill or line of work if your type is in short supply the wages go up so companies compete for your talents and skills. But companies figure this out years ago. These companies now go to areas of the worlds and fly in hundreds of workers to artificially flood our american work force with foreigners. They hire them at lower wages as if you increase the supply the demand goes down, wages dont have to be competitive they just pay those people from other countries wages that are better than their third world countries. In the area of India, China and Indonesia there are like over 3 billion people. Compare that to our 350 million people. So they go over there and scrap the cream off the top and pay them lower wages makes them more money. Everyones doing to so it makes its perfectly ok.

Demand better from imported products by reviewing them online and leaving feedback. Return all poorly made items and research their USA made counterparts. I bought a veneer screw made in China that was so badly made that I returned it and for a few dollars more bought the USA made counterpart that was an awesome tool! Eventually after voting with your dollars, China or other countries will raise their quality and therefore their prices and the "Made in USA" will be the better buy! This in turn creates jobs here in the US! The rich in Dubai drool for our big american SUV's and pay top dollar for them. I believe we can turn it around and create more jobs and security in America! The "Oh well, Screw it" attitudes does not help the people in this country!
I do purchase from the world market, if the item is what I want based on the quality of item!
Good Luck and HH!

The American dollar is not worth the paper it's printed on already. I would love to return to a world where America manufactured and produced the best technology and products in the world. That world is now a memory. Our currency is becoming worthless before our eyes and whenever some one "brow beats" some one for not buying "american"....well, just look through out your home. Everything from your under wear to your microwave to the t.v. in your living room to the car you drive is NOT american made. We are where we are thanks to our government, our politicians and we are and will reap all that we have sown. I hate Chinese made crap as well. And totally get and understand your sentiment. Believe me I do!! But then there is reality......

As long as those damn overseas companies keep making detectors that work as good as they do, they will probably keep selling them. He He

Not only are Garrett detectors made in the USA,their also made in the great state of Texas:hello2:

Question.....? Let's name every metal detector company/detector that is based AND manufactured in the USA. Top to bottom...American made:icon_thumleft: Don't want to hijack thread.....goes along with the discussion perfectly...if that's ok.

Name one that uses all electronics made in America....

Word!

And, unfortunately, "The New World Order" wasn't just a 1990's wrestling gimmick..........

I try to buy American, whites detector and ford F-150. If we don't what will our country be producing in the future, knowledge that is stolen by other countries? Service industry? Not a very bright future unless we come up with something fantastic.

Garrett and a Jeep Wrangler!

I like my products and metal detectors to be made in the USA. I have owned and used Whites for over 20 years. As for the workers, I worked at a major university for 38 years as a Public Safety Officer. On the weekends while checking the computer labs, over 95 percent of the users were the students from other countries. The students from the states were, for some if not most, were sleeping off a wild Friday night. The students from the foreign countrys were under pressure to excel in their studies. In some countries, the government funded the students. If that student was under achieving, it was not uncommon for that student to commit suicide rather than disgrace his parents and government, and I have been on such calls and also attempts. If our students had such comitment, as far as the studying, I think our economy would take a big jump ahead. We just need to wake up.

I just bought my garrett detector today. Proud of my usa!
