Four Peaks Seen As One

The " Four Peaks " clue has three different possibilities of interpretation, which Waltz left intentionally floating in everyone's imagination. He didn't mention the most precious detail, that which would make the difference, leaving out a lot of regions and pinpointing to very few locations.

The three different questions which are hiding the precious detail, are:

- Have to go from the saddle to the highest point of the low peak in regards to se both Four Peaks and the high peak?
- Can you see Four Peaks before going from the saddle to the highest point of the low peak?
- Can you see the high peak before going from the saddle to the highest point of the low peak?

I believe the most people go by the first option. Is this the right one?

Waltz was a old "gezzer" that roamed the desert so after a life time of this life style OF COURSE HE HAD BAD / FAILING eyesight ! Most of us old people are in the same boat !

That would be good for today's magnetic declination, but not for Waltz's time in those mountains. You will need to check the historical magnetic declination for his time. True North has been changing for years, the poles have even changed completely, and are due to change again. That area is very volatile due to mineralization, at times magnetic North was almost due East. This is the main reason most treasures or old mines are lost. One can have a real map, but won't find anything because of this, then claim it was already taken.
I don't believe Waltz was using a compass, just the sun or stars. That being said the directions are (due) North or South, you will begin to find more land marks when you allow for this.

Good reminder on past magnetic declination status. That slipped my mind.
