Here's hoping you and yours are well. And any livestock too.

i didn't mean to steer on stones faith. Rather; looking at potential archives of former related posts elsewhere. And picked the heart topic to not wander too far off thread topic. Which I usually do anyways.

I enjoyed Ryan's brief chase. Much of that due to his green perspective. While all the while not liking the media aspect behind it. But he did investigate a bit. Interviews were interesting.
Still , his boots weren't Gila critter scarred before he set out and the trail not familier. for me a more polished later version wouldn't be the same. And given certain temperament(s) it would have to be different wouldn't it. (Not a question.)

I agree with the treasure chest stone and the chimney being Travis's work.
Thanks to the clarity provided by others including those actually familier with the chimney there seems no deliberate misleading assigned them for me. Hey it could change. But I've not pursued much since the end of Ryan's brief chase either. Something about Travis's kin not wearing onerous gold chains that drag in the dust while doing chores maybe.

Stones whupped my butt early on as you likely recall. Photos of them especially.
After attention to them online I was convinced plenty of others had far better odds of making any sense of them. I will choose the horse map as a favorite for me. For the horse is a horse of course (!) But for the Jesuits in my region elsewhere' s historic (they were Jesuits) tie that predate the Peraltas. No I'm not saying that is a Jesuit. Or a Jesuit hat. (On the priest not the horse.) It appears an old Christian hat but we've been down that road here on T-net before. (Delightfully I'm sure.)
Rather the Priest side of the horse stone map is a reminder (to only me?) of inquisition and Taxco varied silver items and the ghost of Dona (not the same Dona I so nervously dated long ago) not so unlike the Priest side with it's a sprinkling of (possible Taxco sourced or portrayed) objects surround her and her hat. Add some other solid Christian symbols and what really is the overall reference?

The ends of some of those old trails....Made the risks in the middle of them almost not as bad. Depending on a given particular trip I suppose.
I might have had the hubs on my cart warmer than usual leaving town anyways.

All fine here at the ranch, expecting another grandkid in November, hope you are doing good too.
I also like "el corcel", that hat on the Priest, or witch stirs a lot of different thoughts. First time I hear about the ghost of Dona, hope it's not a tribute to her. I believe that's just the way it was found, I don't really think they went into the trouble of forming the hat like that. The 1847 is not a date, I need to go out there some day to find out exactly when those stones were made. With the use of g.e. I have them dated in the 1700's.

I know more that one who contaminated themselves. Some well known. Many areas in Arizona have that issue. Over time water dissolves that crap out of the mineralized rocks. Many suffer from heavy metal poisoning and don't know it. Tree just died from it. If you ever stumble upon a pile of old sardine cans look for a old mine nearby. The old time miners knew the fish oil in sardines removed some heavy metals from the body. A friend from the Pa mountains told me to look for live bugs in the water at a spring before drinking. No bugs don't drink. Rattle snakes hang near water! All life lessons. Fresh heavy rain water is better than water in setting in pools for God knows how long concentrating the heavy metals.

Stay away from water setting in pools. Not only is it filled with heavy metals things die and rot. In a waterfall I found a hole 1 foot wide by 5 foot deep that collected gold. There was a dead rat floating. It stunk big time. That was fun digging out the gold. In a emergency running water is safer. At least it washes away dead things. I always make sure I have enough drinking water when out. If your planning a hike where you will need more than you can carry take a few mini trips in and stash water for later use along the way. Use a container that heat will not destroy. Plastic water jugs will not due. I've stashed a water jug in my jeep in the past for a jeep emergency only to find it empty destroyed by heat later. Same goes w8th ammo. Stuck a box of 45 ammo in my glove box. Heat destroyed it. Gun would not eject the spent shell.

Now that you're here I have a question for a long time local.....
I'm wondering if you might know how Hewitt canyon, ranch, road, station, etc got it's name? Neither myself, nor the deputy recording clerk for Pinal County, Erica Bogar, can find anything. I know the obvious "it was named for a guy named Hewitt" makes the most sense.....but he himself is very elusive. (Edit: This has been concluded. I found Hewitt....I think.)

Now that Im asking, Im also wondering how Queen Creek, Queen box, Queen Valley, Silver King mine, Silver Queen mine, King's Crown peak, etc may have come into their names.......

If you have any insight and care to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

You could have thrown in the tooth fairy to make it more creditable, but if you really believe all that, tell me this. What were you doing on film looking into holes where the PSM's may have come out of, and showing a rock that you claimed to match them?

Homar as time goes on you learn new information. The Legend show was scripted. I found the stone maps interesting. Over time I learned the truth. Tried to pass some of the truth on. The gold was found. Other treasures in the mountain was found. You move on in life with new things. New things come up. Don't get stuck in a rut. There are some surprises still out there.

Live bugs in water: great tip. PA guys are the smartest around, well, some of em. Myself excluded, since I drank the Whisky Springs water......filtered of course, but that does nothing for heavy metals.

Rattle snakes near water. Makes sense. Saw a slithering friend (not sure what type it moved so fast) over the weekend out by that water collection area off Milk Ranch Rd....near water like you said. You were the one who taught me to LOOK UP for rattlesnakes in the trees as well....

Guess who goes first. Tom K told me he was bit on the hand tying his horse to a tree when he was young working on the ranch. Don't put your hands where you can't see. Wear good leather gloves and loose clothing. I've had to shoot a few aggressive greenies that decided I was the bad guy. I carry a derringer with 410 snakeshot that also take a 45 lc shell. There are other things out there.

You know you shot it! It will vaporize a rattlers head. The #1 item you must carry. A Zoleo satellite locator. If you run into a issue and you will this can save your life. You can send messages with a map on where you are. Let them know your ok or get emergency help. Find something hit I'm ok and you also receive a map with cords of where your standing. I use something very similar.... a garmin mini. I usually have a 9mm with the 1st round as ratshot. (Yes, it cycles my gun.) But Ive been looking at 38/357 combos.....

You can get a Bond Arms but at least a 4" barrel. Use 2 1/2 inch shells not 3" Mine are very rare American Arms. I haunt guns shows. Only two I've seen. They were hand made in Texas.
Last year a film maker who wants to start his own company asked Wayne and I to help film a teaser reel. We went to the historic ruin off Hewitt Station Rd near Hermans shack site. We then went to a shooting site. Glenn wanted to film me shooting the derringer. After I asked him if he wanted to shoot it. He is a big guy! When he shot it it flew out of his hand over his head and landed behind him. You should have seen the look on his face. Next Waverly a camera man who does naked and afraid in Africa pulled out a elephant gun. He asked if I wanted to shoot it. It knocked me on my ass and I smashed a hearing aid in my pocket. My wife Angie is a fan of Survivor and was with me. These guys film that show and she had a million questions.
If you get a 45-410 derringer don't get hot 45 lc rounds they make for self defense. I reload and made some light loads and they still kick hard. Rattle snakes don't die fast after you shoot them with anything smaller than 410. At the rendezvous I cut one up with a shovel and all three pieces crawled off in a different direction.

Same layout color and type. That or he posted on L.D.M.G.M. and I thought it was Desert USA. But Desert USA still seems right.

I think this quote from Ryan sheds new light on the legends surrounding the Stone Maps, etc.

The people who found those items wanted to attach themselves to a legend and placed the Latin Heart at the spot where legend says the other maps were found. Legend is wrong in the discovery location, so that makes the Latin Heart as nothing more than an attachment to a false legend.....and when the going got rough for the "finders", they threw a temper tantrum and destroyed what they found."

Too much phony evidence for me. Glad I'm out of it, but still don't regret anything.

Yup - all that stuff exists, but that isn't the DUSA forum - that's an old forum (in fact, the one that I first hit upon (what 20 or so years ago now?) and led me to eventually meet most if not all of the folks who posted there. It hasn't seen much use in at least a few years, and I suspect one of these days it too will go "poof." It's known in the circle as "The Feldman Forum" I believe because Ron Feldman originally started and moderated it, but that was a long time ago. Here is why I asked about Wayne. About 6 months ago I posted a picture of the "stone building with the porthole" and I put that picture on Wayne's Superstition facebook page. It was just a picture of the backside of that stone building...not the doorway. No explanation. No location. Just the 1 building. Anyway....Wayne comes rushing in and sends me a message that "we dont talk about this place" and guilted me in to deleting my post.
I sat around for months debating whether or not I should listen to Wayne. Do I hold myself back and NOT talk about this place, respecting Wayne's wishes?? ......but it seems he is going around making videos about this place. No objections to he himself recording videos, but I get guilted into deleting a solitary picture.
Lesson learned. Ive met him 4 or 5 times now, a couple times with you, and he cant even be bothered to remember my name...... oh well.

Anyway.....Im looking at .410's today
FYI, just in case, dont waste your time at the San Tan Valley gun show on Meridian Ave. Its just a bunch of dudes selling AR's since long guns aren't regulated like pistols. There are no pistols there. Just AR's and WWII relics. Lame. Speaking of guns.....how is that shotgun with my custom paint job? Is the paint holding up?

Many NM Search and Rescue teams carry the Inreach (plus GPS, cellphone, ham radio - yikes!), but it's good to see someone like Zoleo finally providing decent competition with Garmin. The ideal will come when all a hiker needs to carry is his phone. Maybe Elon will take care of that. The older I get, the lighter I want to travel. I'm still toting my old Garmin - even though their firmware can be shaky, I still have a map and 1,500 manageable waypoints in a small package.

Im not sure which video you saw. Mine has about 50 views or less. Buried Expectations is the name of the channel.... I'm thinking about making the channel slogan "Wrong hole, again," bit I'm also tossing around "Where the only thing shiny, is the camera glare..." I was calling it something else, but it was dumb. There are other videos out there that are more popular and have thousands of views, and they do drone flyovers and give gps coordinates. If you saw one of those videos, the ones that give away the location....that was NOT me.

I talked about Barry Storm, Bury Gold-water, and the Hebe McDonald article. That one was me. However, at the time I made the video I hadn't yet read the other documents I recently found at Univ. of Arizona that discuss what this place was before the train stop. So.....everything I said in that video is now null and void. Oh the joy of having to watch myself on the TV be wrong.........

About Wayne. I understand you chose the recording location. My point is, Wayne has no problems with him or his friends benefitting from making videos at this location, apparently. No objections. But if I so much as post a picture of one building with no location info given.......... "we don't talk about this place..."
I'm just not sure what to make of it, but it doesn't make me feel all good and tingly inside. It makes me feel like he was trying to shut me up while he's out there making videos. Maybe that's not the case. I could be over-reacting. I just hope he made a better video than I did, because I held back a lot in mine on his account.... Hopefully I'll learn to laugh about it

Now that that's out........ did ya find anything while detecting?? Lot's of brass I bet.......... It's even worse on the train side of things........ Shell after shell after shell after shell, oh and look......a nail!

Its already a thing. I had full coverage using a starlink beta on my iphone on my last trip into the supes. Into areas with 0 coverage on prior trips i was able to call my wife, text images, listen to music and pull up maps.

The beta period ended last month and its now a commercial offering. Tmobile Starlink.
