Quite the flooding going on in Germany let's hope our buddy Tom is ok.

Whats going on down there in the extreme tropics xaos ??

Thunderstorms and heavy rain yesterday..keeps the Sahara dust down a bit..

Was pretty clear today...warming up fast...:sunny:
but we all know that is a double edged sword down here...

They let Cruise boats back to STT...of course, a big spike in covid cases....adding more flights every week...
Usually season dies off by March, but with it being open season..its still going gangbusters..

Problem is, seasonal employees left , so places are shutting down because they have no help...instead of 4 cooks, they have one a best...and a 2 hour wait for a burger..even when restaurant is 1/2 full...
Again, because the tourists are full on, the rents are astronomical, so most people in the business cannot find anything affordable to stay...

Funny example, as a business , we use rentals...a sub-compact, goes from $1200 to $1600/month during season, this is typical...
Currently, a sub-compact is $3300 per month...over $100 per day for a sub compact..IF you can find one...

that is what a **** show it is here!

For you boaters...

Todays fuel prices:

Premium: $4.919
Diesel: $4.709

For Cars:
Premium unleaded: $3.999
Unleaded: $3.799
Diesel: $3.699

For all grades...copious amount of water is included in the price! FREE of charge!!!!

oh and electricity is currently 53 cents per kilowatt...which you get average about 6 days a week...unless the wind blows...(and they were just approved for a rate increase)

xaos,

Sounds like a pricey place to live. One of the sweetest jobs I ever heard of in the carribean was in Freeport, Bahamas.

Met this guy at the pub at our compound who was at the clubhouse bar at happy hour every day. Turns out he was the mechanic and baby sitter for an upscale yatch that belonged to the Bata family of shoe fame.

He got to live rent free on the boat and got paid a good salary and made some decent money on the side repairing boats at the marina where he was anchored.

Agreed Bill.

And on that note... I need a bigger comfort level.
