Greetings all on a playoff Sunday.....

Been cold and clear here the past few days...it'll be wet here soon enough. Typical
weather for us this time of year, although it's usually about 10 degrees colder.

Well so far this morning at around 3:37 am we got about 3 to four inches of that white stuff called SNOW And this is near Canton Ohio

Our overnights are higher than your daily's. 73f at 6am was the coolest it got.

Monday here now. Im hoping they got tomorrow wrong, 49c or 120f.

She's full blood Calabrese. Her entire family came to Australia in the 1950s. She was born in 1963. I think about 20 came here then. But in 1980 when we met as teens her 17 me 19 her family still couldn't speak hardly any English. I remember going to their home and it was a struggle her parents understanding me and me them.
They had only socialised with other Italians. Mate, my misses was a stunner and I was not going to bail. Being hard a$$ traditional Calabrese at first they didn't like me one bit. How hard? Once when she came to my place when she was supposed to be home and was doing a hair dressing course and late, her uncle, thank goodness my family was out Friday night shopping, friday's then were the only times shops stayed open till I think it was 9pm where we were. Her uncle rocked up with someone else at my family home and got out of the car with a shotgun and I kid you not. We of course didn't answer the door and didn't make a sound.
Everyone hated me because I was Aussie.
Fast forward they saw who I was and in that time I think me going there for meals and helping at salami making time, whole live pig killed and everything used from making every traditional Italian meats you can think of with pork, and soap from the fat, I was accepted. My misses father and I became absolute best friends in the end and he loved when we went there and we'd take wine and other things. He'd say "come on ......... let's go out the back and see the vegetables, he grew everything. The vegetable thing was a ruse to get away from the others and have a drink 😄We'd be out there for hours having beer and scotch. Loved it when he'd say "ahh you understand, not like those stupid idiotas" referring to most of the other relatives 😂
He was a top guy. So were the grandparents, golden.
So there's how I married a mad Calabrese. 😂
To this day now n then I have to explain some Aussie saying to her she doesn't get.
Arms go into the air and I get "ahh stupid Aussie sayings" tailing off into Italian with stupida and other things here and there I know. Potato head in Italian is a common thing. 😂

This is the kind of story that warms my heart . You survived the shotgun and lived to tell us the story. I wouldn't have it any other way. Nobody would

Yeah Melbourne being right on the bay gets the cooler breezes off of the southern ocean. We often see them with 25c and we can be 39. Even though they are just 235km away. We pick up too the heat generated in the Mallee Wimmera region, flat open land, which we are on the doorstep of.
We had a 2 week heatwave last year that saw us not go under 35c with half of it low 40s. I think during that same period they only had maybe 4 days in the low to mid 30s and the rest low to high 20s.
You can grow veges like my late father in-law did in the full sun there, never an issue. Up here 80% of what he had wouldn't have survived in the open sun.
Blue is Melbourne, or Smelbourne as I call it with its best view in the rearview mirror, red is our region. We don't even have a flowing river in our parts.

Oily and fishy I hear. I have had mutton birds a few times, they were nice. Bit oily but you boil it out then bake them. My dads mate used to give us some each season.

I don't care for horror movies. They give me bad dreams, nightmares.
I have lived enough horror to not be watching it also.
At least that's me reasoning behind that.

I haven't watched any in yrs. Last I saw was that weird Bone Tomahawk one. Before that I reckon I didn't see any since the 1990s.
The news is horror enough for me.

I hear that from most people that did. Robert here said the same.
There's some pretty disturbing scenes in it. I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was being a western.

I'll look through the collection I bought today. (Still wondering why I did what I did)
If I see it I'll give it to somebody free.

So I bought this collection by weight, box weighed 40 lb, bag weighed 38 lb. Count, both, then X the amounts, then the bartering started. There's A LOT so the big sort will happen and separate the high end box sets. Haven't any clue on the total for sure-5 CDs weighed 1 pound. But the box sets really are heavy.

Well it's Australia Day here today, or Self Loathing Day as many make out it is.
Today the top gong for the top Australian of the year went to Katherine Bennell Pegg our first ever Astronaut. 🎉💫🧑‍🚀........umm well, she's never actually been to space but will one day, I think! Just hopefully not on one of our rockets..... 😬

So anyway, in keeping with our new Australia D.....Self Loathing Day my wife and I went next door and yelled abuse at our neighbors for being white Aussies. They thanked us both and we made arrangements for them to do likewise later in the afternoon. Before leaving we threw a couple of empty beer cans on their front lawn and gratified their letterbox with "white honkys get out". 😃
Before we left they asked us what we would like graffitied on ours. We chose off of the list they showed us "Die white scum". 🤗
They're not beer drinkers so we agreed on them throwing some empty Jim Beam cans on our lawn.
Unfortunately its a high fire danger day today and as a result a Total Fire ban is in force.
Bummer huh, we can't burn our Aussie flag today as planned 🙁
So instead I drew an Aussie Flag set on fire on some cardboard and using, not made in Australia garden ties 😀 always thinking right, made in China......🤔 come to think of it everything is now...anywho tied on the front gate.
🥹 excuse me for a second im welling up with pride.....hang on 😵‍💫 no no no no no not that pride 👬👨‍❤️‍👨🫄....wait what's that guy holding? 🤨🧐 .... weirdo....sorry I was being a bit uninclusive there.
Um, yeah so what a celebration, and even if you don't know anybody that hates you, remember, you can always hate yourself.
