I will also apologize for that very, very, very long winded introduction...just scrolling through it hurt my finger.

I think you will fit right in. Welcome to artifacts.

:hello: Welcome Brandiwine! You are not alone, there are many here that are obsessed with this hobby, so don't think of yourself that you are odd. There are a few that are somewhat odder than others :icon_scratch: including myself. :laughing7:

Thanks for viewings. It is possible to look at my finds and a little history of my country

It is surprising that in Russia it is possible to dig almost everywhere. Except the places forbidden by the archaeological law of Russia. The land plots in a private property has the small areas and it isn't protected almost. In the fall and in the spring, before growth of vegetables, it is possible to dig on others sites.

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR ADDICTED TO THESE HOBBIES LIKE THE REST OF US---HAPPY HUNTING---LOOK FORWARD TO MORE PICTURES-----:occasion14:

How's 2013 treating everyone so far? We are still trying to sell our house and hunting I still so slow. Hope all is well with everyone.

Going good Ben. Maybe you can do a contingency offer if you find one you like? Got a new site. It is in winter wheat right now and have not had time to hunt it. Snapped a quick picture of the dirt. It is all shell middens and it is on private property with written permission :hello2: You do not even see dirt for the shell. Looks like a little Fla in Tn :tongue3:

That's a good sign. I've yet to get writer permission anywhere. Allways a good conversation and a handshake. Never had a problem in all the years. Do you think I should make a point of getting it? Good luck on that field!!!

My gosh that's alot of shells! that doesn't even look real. The occupation was so heavy, that such a huge amount of shell was left behind? am I understanding it right? I have written permission and it makes for a very enjoyable time. Just not finding a huge amount. IF ONLY it could be plowed, but it's grazing country.

We have a great time too. One farmer even comesout to the field with me some times. But he just likes to tell all about the amazing stuff he used to find. Jealousy!!! He's a good old timer.

Naturegirl. The shell in some places is around 8 feet deep from what I am seeing on the banks by the river. So it was inhabited for a long time. MY oldest from that area was a beaver lake. It is mostly shell pottery and flint. Funny how white it looks for our dark soils here.

Yes if I get a good relationship with the owner on a place i want to spend some time I will get permission in writing. The acreage is 3000 and I wanted to be able to take a guest. I can hit the place by boat or truck. Most times it is just a hand shake. But if you have other land owner family members involved they may not be aware of a hand shake. I think it makes a land owner more comfortable knowing you are trying to do the right thing. People are funny in my areas. They do not like strangers let alone anyone they think is trespassing. I do not know how many spots I have lost because of trespassers. :(

Hi ya'll! I'm a transplanted Georgia peach but have lived in NC for going on 30 years now...here's a couple pics of me with my only Grandson, who btw found the pottery shard that got me to looking a little harder at the creek lol and there's a pic of the rocks on the creek...I've found a lot of old bottles there but anymore what I find is broken glass and it's kinda sad since I am a collector of old bottles.
