The thing that causes exhaust systems to rust out the most is starting a vehicle and not running it up to full operating temp. Condensation is an exhaust destroyer, in any climate.
Yeah agree, even when I just want to go to the shop 5 minutes away I'll drive around the outskirts of town for that reason and the battery and give it the boot now n then. Especially when I had the diesel with the DPF filter. Short trips killed those things and replacement DPFs aint cheap. Short trips caused lots of issues with the Xtrail Diesels. Id wait too when I heard it doing a burn off of the filter and not stop until it was done.

The wifey was in the doldrums today after getting ignored by some of her family over Christmas.
I had to think quick!
Took her fishing at Lake Mead :icon_thumright:
No keepers=no smelly girl fingers.
Nice and quiet sun shiny day=happy girl (with no smelly fingers!:laughing7:).
Mission:accomplished!
Happy wife, happy life. :icon_thumright:

Here's a neat find from today. The water sogged school field made a lot of little signals a lot clearer this little thing came up sounding like a penny and what a neat surprise it was.

Took her fishing at Lake Mead :icon_thumright:

Wondering where on Mead you went to. That entire area was my old stomping
grounds. Searchlight, Cottonwood Cove......Nipton. Kept a boat in Searchlight
for a dozen years, and would pick it up on the way down to Cottonwood.

We'd drop the boat in, load up all the camping gear and head up the lake
five or six miles and camp in one of the coves. It was a regular outing for the
family every April and November, and then a few side trips with my dad and
brother just for the fishing.

Also did a load of coyote, bobcat and gray fox hunting from Needles all the
way up 95 to near Vegas.

Lots of good memories..... :occasion14:

Good morning!☕️ It’s an unbelievable 60° this morning. Heading to 67° today. Then down to 24° tomorrow after the bomb cyclone goes through. A bomb cyclone occurs when the barometric pressure drops more than 24 millibars within 24 hours.

The weather the country is getting this winter is just bonkers....

Good morning! Chore day, or half day, if that cold front hits. 66 degrees now, but below freezing by supper time.

That's a neat one. It would be pretty hard to figure out ownership, but that probably meant something to the person who lost it. (Or at least, I hope it did.)

Was at the gas station yesterday and it was busy. Guys filling up the 5 gallon cans of fuel all looking grumpy. :dontknow:
Looked at the weather this morning after seeing some comment of "bomb cyclone".
OK!
My day has changed it seems, go to gas station for more fuel, look grumpy.:laughing7:
Get generators down to the house.

Blue is snow, green is rain, this freezing rain.:BangHead:

Mornin all.
More freezing rain this morning. Pines continue to pout.

A big white pine across main road shed more limbs yesterday. Ice on our road made the slope to main road taking trash out and visiting the mail box fun on crutches. More so because my foot kept sliding too. But I managed to not take a tour of the underside of the truck.
It is supposed to break freezing and rain before temps drop in the morning tomorrow and the snow starts.
We have dog meds to get ...That will be interesting.
No mosquitos though!

Need to flip the spikes down on the crutches. Put a set of studs on the good shoe.

Darn it RC you should have thought about this previously regarding the meds then there's no need to get them today.

Pick up the mail?
What kind of service you got going down there sir?

Up here in the not so great north we have the entitled postal service that doesn't deliver in the snow, ice, nor if it's too hot or cold. Fragile people work for them, they take 1.5 hr lunches, complain they're over worked. :dontknow: :laughing7:
I check the box once or twice a week-just to empty the crap fliers from the Crappy Tire, and some food store.

Ice on anything sucks.
I plowed yesterday :BangHead: Big mistake as it would have been an easy to just plow the ice away that laid on the snow-instead of having a skating rink.
Be careful sir a slip is a case of blue air....

We just went to Boxcar in Las Vegas bay as we got a late start (1pm).
We normally take the boat to either Cottonwood or Willow. They're currently extending the boat ramp at Hemenway harbor and all the other ramps on the lake are out of the water.
I go through Nipton at least once a week to get to the Mojave Dez areas I like to hunt.

I debated about reducing the frozen ridges of slush with the plow. But left them.

Once put screws through crutch tips for traction on green slime under water at boat ramps.
Must not use them on aluminum ramp to house.
And they would trash the linoleum.
One flip down cleat for a crutch/cane is in the shed. Looks quite flimsy to me. Wouldn't trust it at all.

I used the tractor back blade in front of the mailboxes after the last heavy snow . Post lady has no trouble there and drives down our dirt/ice road to deliver packages.
Told her to let me know if it gets bad out at main road.

Night before Thanksgiving mailbox slaughter by vehicle still needs repaired right.
My post box sits back a foot to far due to the nearly shredded board it rests on.. Mail lady said that is alright . But it isn't really. Slope on backside of where the post is is steep; so the job is going to wait a while.
