Let's try this another way.
All these items they have been finding that belong on ships - what if it's the same ship?
This would indicate a ship spent enough time on OI to actually do something. You would expect any activity that took time would allow enough time for people to drop/lose things.

Interesting approach.
I think the place to start is to look at each item they claim to be ship related and see if they are only specific to a ship or a general purpse item (i.e. a "ook) that can be used for other purpose.
After all, OI isn't far from the mainland and may have been brought over by rowboat or barge.

For all the alleged pirate activity on the island, there's almost nothing to be found. I usually find more 1700's coins and relics in one year of detecting than these guys have found in 13 years of scouring Oak Island. Either they're very bad at detecting or there just wasn't much activity back in the 1700's. Just a tall tale, I'm afarid...

I personally think that considering how many searchers that have come before them that we know about, plus all the ones we don't know about out there detecting their own lots or others I'm surprised they find any coins at all.. You know Fred and Dan and plenty of other have been all over that island detecting and digging etc... On their own lots and others as they have had about the only houses on the island for years till the Laginas moved in and eventually on the island themselves..

If memory serves in the first couple of seasons of COOI, the Laginas ran a sonar search of the seabed around oak island, and found what was believed to be anchor drag marks on the south side. Don't recollect if they were fluted anchors or anchor stones. Makes sense when you realize the worst winter weather blows from the north.
Likewise you would put your shore camp in the most sheltered spot you could find, at least on the south side of a hill. There you might find remnants of a camp, rusted cooking pots, axe heads, pottery shards, etc.

My post about a ship vs row boat/barge got me thinking...
The attached pic shows the relationship between OI and the mainland. It would seem to me that if the location of the artifacts were found on the east side of OI they could have been brought by ship compared to the west side.
This raised another question...
If the 3 boys rowed to the island they would landed on the west side and they would have had to walk 1 mile to the money pit location. The distance is not the issue but rather what are the odds they would just happen to find an indentation among an island of oak trees?

Not sure what the island looked like in the late 1700's of course but that side of the island seems to be where all the action took place with ships coming and going, off loading whatever, so maybe they went there just being curious and stumbled across the indention. Maybe that area wasn't as packed with trees if work had been going on in the area, compared to other parts of island.. Then and now even...

Been reviewing season 4 of COOI, specifically the hunt for the Chappel vault.
To review - two seasons earlier the Laginas bored a 6" hole and found what they thought was cement and timber at 143 ft, the same* depth as Chappel did. So now they drop a 40" cassion over their same hole, and by golly they hit the exact spot, claw hammering up two pieces of a 6"x7" beamed roof.
Examination of these pieces show a saw cut by a 3 ft circular blade, leading them to the conclusion that it was searcher activity, and it was Chappel's son's (Mel) tunnel.
My point is Chappel Sr could not have hit Chappel Jr's tunnel IF IT WASN'T BUILT YET.
He musta hit something else.

The chappel vault was debunked long ago (like all other claims about the island).
Chappel planted the parchment and "trace of gold" they stated they found on a drill bit in yet another attempt to fleece investors.
The wood and other junk found today is just remnants of previous hoaxer digs.
