RC,

I watched a video recently which stated every great country/civilization failed mostly due to degraded farming land kind of where modern agriculture has taken our food system the last 50 years or so.

Some folks with deer hunting plots are going to no till method.
Some running a buffalo no till but crimped system.
Sure holds moisture better. And builds organic material. (green manure from cover crops or crop residue , plus roots ,depending on crop) Reduces spraying to kill weeds. Less erosion. That says a lot.
A seed drill for such is not cheap. Nor is a crimper. At least from my small land perspective.
But the concept , and my watching a couple locals progress is encouraging.
One , through studied accurate timing crimped (crushed) will a standard lawn roller.
And some broadcast (chosen for ability to find soil through thatch) seed with varied devices. Handheld or spreaders mounted to a quad or tractor ect..
Again , it's results that matter.

Building up organic material in sandy soil is a common challenge in this region. (The best soils were found out long ago and camped on /acquired).
For the time it takes to build it up , there's no sense in breaking it down.

Went to put charger on truck battery where it has sat too long.
Opened door and hornets nest fell out and hornets horneted.

Hornet spray has written on the can that it kills the whole nest.
Hornets say , oh ya? as they fly about.

Perhaps I'm supposed to club them with the can?

This will end one of two ways probably....

Good afternoon, after 103, 88 feels cool? Butchered first four quail today. Took longer to go back to house for the pan, twice, than the harvest.
I saw WD was back at the pic place... I try to send a msg but it’s not there. I thought might be gone.glad to see you backWD...
Have great day....

.....going to put on Traeger grill. Picked one, skinned one, kept the breast from last 2. They were easy to pluck, I will do that more as I get more. Boiling new red potatoes and sweet corn.
“Eat your heart out” Bill.....Hahaa, all in good fun my friend...
In next couple years we’ll all get on our drones and meet up for supper at Bills house. That sounds better than a 10 minute ride for 3 minutes of weightlessness...

RC,

The hornet's nest fix is simple wait until after dark when they're all back in the nest. Wear some gloves and gently put the nest in a garbage bag problem solved.

Gently? Aww heck no. Stuff and run!

I've sprayed them after dark before. Good way to catch most of them home.
With todays heat , they should have been all hands on deck at home , cooling the larva. But , some union members may have disagreed.

This nest landed on the ground. Has a few larva too.
Figured the guards would ,well , return and guard it.
They left it alone though. Probably the effect of the spray on thier demeanor and ability.
One or two besides those that flew away visited me , but may have been away during the goins ons.

Which reminds me , the charger attached to the battery is still powered up...

In 1975, at age sixteen, Ford was recruited by recording impresario Kim Fowley to join the all-female rock band The Runaways. The band soon secured a recording contract and released their first album in 1976. The band garnered significant media attention and the Runaways became a successful recording and touring act during their late-1970s heyday. Ford's lead-guitar playing became an integral element of the band's sound until their eventual break-up in April 1979.

In 1977, internal conflicts were erupting within the Runaways, who had by that time already parted ways with producer Fowley, lead singer Cherie Currie, and bassist Jackie Fox. Vocalist/guitarist Joan Jett wanted the band to shift to a more Ramones-influenced punk rock sound, while Ford and drummer Sandy West wanted to continue playing the hard rock-oriented songs the band had become known for. With neither faction willing to compromise, the band finally broke up in April 1979.
