Phenomenal! Congratulations on saving a rare piece of American history! Just beautiful. Sub 8-)

Holy moly, that's the most stunning Draped Bust silver I've ever seen here. I'm not sure what the series-specific high-point wear patterns are but it looks AU-50 to me. Slabbed coins are unnatural and if I ever bought a coin in one it would be removed immediately, however this piece probably ought to be graded and protected. Congratulations on a magnificent and beautiful piece of early American treasure, that one will be hard to beat!

Killer find...BANNER! :occasion14:

holy guacamole :notworthy:

Sweet find. Thats a heck of coin there....congrats

Banner all the way! That is simply amazing!! We never see these posted!

That is one of the best coins that I've ever seen posted here. Banner vote submitted.

Great find. My odds just went down. Wow.:occasion14:

Few thoughts here:

1) AU55 grade range, and it's nice for the grade

2) As others said, don't rub it or try to improve it in any way

3) Do send it to PCGS or NGC

4) Research the Overton variety. If it's a rare one, the value is going to be much higher.

5) FIND OUT WHERE THAT DIRT CAME FROM. It could be a deliberately buried coin from the early 19th century, and there may have been others buried with it.

Congratulations on a great find!

I'm having a hard time determining the variety of this? Can't see any website with pics of the differences.

Absolutely stunning coin! You must live near the mint in Philly because that one did not drop far from the tree!
BANNER!

congrats! Beautiful coin.

Always funny seeing the subject lines on some banner finds. "Found silver today" "Found a silver half"
throw up a "HIGH GRADE DRAPED BUST SILVER HALF DOLLAR - 1807"

Lol I know!!! So nonchalant about it. When I got Bust Half Dimes I was like “OMG I GOT BUSTED IN HALF!!!!!!!!!” Lol

Holy crap I mad the Banner ! Thanks folks

Anybody out there able to tell me what variety I have?

Congratulations on a most excellent and stellar coin recovery. This is the type of find most of us dream about.

Amazing. Can you update this thread if you decide to have it graded?

Wow!!!! I would lose my mind if I found that! One of the best coins I’ve seen in the years I’ve been on Tnet. Can’t congratulate you enough. In the top 3 on my wishlist is a draped silver. My goodness what a coin! Great job and congrats on a No Brainer BANNER find.

Well, that certainly didn't suck!

Great find, and it is in outstanding condition for being in the earth....nicely done!
